Five concussions and a partially torn achilles, (which, by the way, gives a greater increase for a full rupture of the same tendon or the one opposite of it) for a bargain-basement price and a player who may never see the field. Or pay a little extra for a player that has a great chance of solidifying your LB corps and actually being on the field and contributing in a much greater way. I'd still take the chance on Takeo. And considering the gambling results of the Saints, I still like my odds better.

Re: Dan Morgan (merged)
He's a good pickup right up until the point where he lowers his helmet to tackle a 225# running back, blacks out, then pisses his pants. Hope he had a lifetime supply of Depends worked into his contract somewhere. Bad move. He'll end up on the bench soon enough....drooling.

Re: Dan Morgan (merged)
And if you'll compare career games and stats you'll see Morgan has missed quite a bit more games in recent years than Spikes has and Takeo's numbers are definietly better. And considering the types of injuries both players have, I'd still take my plug-in chances on Spikes. But, alas, it's really a mute point seeing how the brain-trust in the FO has pretty much made it's move. I'm just saying I would've took my chances with anyone besides a habitual concussion magnet.

Re: Dan Morgan (merged)
"Morgan is a better pass rusher than Spikes."
Which would be good if 1- he lasts past the first hit and 2- if we had any defensive package resembling rushing a LB on a blitz. |

Timing may have been another issue. Wasn't Spikes officially released AFTER Morgan was signed? May be wrong on this but I know Spikes was released yesterday (Thursday) and I thought the Morgan deal was finalized either late Wednesday or early Thursday. Anyone know the timeline? |

Re: Dan Morgan (merged)
We didn't have much of a cornerback blitz package coming into this past season and saw it quite often. With Morgan on that weakside we could see some of that.

Re: Dan Morgan (merged)
We can only hope we are targeting Rivers, that would be worth the gap-stop pick-up of Morgan. And yes, as a former defensive player I want more blitzes and from everywhere, not the same damn ones everytime you blitz. I have hated our D-coordinator the last few years because of his mediocre schemes. Granted the players were not the best, but you hide them using unpredictable play-calls and blitzes not leave them on islands with no pressure on opposing QBs. Ok, ok, stop, this is a new year, a new chance, calm down....1,2,3,4........(sigh)....I'm better now.
