Saints Sign TE Miller

Ex-Panther Morgan set to join Saints, report says- NOLA.com

Miller, an eight-year veteran who started seven of 16 games last season with the Saints, said that while he was out of town for most of the first week of free agency, his primary objective is to return to New Orleans, where there's a certain comfort level in the team's offense.

"We've just started talking with the Saints," Miller said Thursday from his offseason Southern California home. "I was kind of waiting on them. I had some contact from some other teams, but we were waiting to see what the Saints wanted to do. They started talking to my agent (on Wednesday), and hopefully we can get something worked out by (today)."

Miller's urgency stems from the fact that he will be part of an NFL USO tour that embarks Saturday for destinations in Japan and Okinawa through March 14. Saints quarterback Drew Brees also will participate in the week-long tour, during which time the players will spend time visiting military troops.

Miller's agent, Kevin Poston, did not reply to inquiries seeking comment. Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis, in a Thursday afternoon e-mail, said he had nothing to report.

Miller caught 27 passes last season for the Saints with two touchdowns and was a critical part of the Saints' offense after tight end Mark Campbell was lost for the season with a back injury that required corrective surgery.

Because of several injuries to fellow tight end Eric Johnson also an unrestricted free agent Miller was easily the Saints' most dependable tight end. Out of his desire to stay in New Orleans, Miller said, he has made no free-agent visits.

This guy is a decent backup. Brees makes him look great. Imagine what a real tight end could do.

Thanks Billy. We need class guys like you.

Re: WWL Reporting That Billy Miller Has Resigned

I think he meant "re-signed", not resigned. Am I correct in assuming that?
