Trading Up to get Dorsey
It looks like Kansas City wants to trade down from #5. This would only cost us 300 points and most likely a 3rd this year and a 4th next year. It seems that in order to get Ellis we only need to jump ahead of Cincy. That only costs us 200 points or a 3rd round pick.
Kansas City (it is rumored) is looking to trade with Dallas but might not want to trade that far down. Assuming we make a trade with KC, and both Ellis, Dorsey and Mc Fadden are there and Dallas wants to make the trade, do you take Dallas's 2 #1 picks. I really don't think Payton is targeting McFadden because he's kind of like another Reggie Bush. Knowing the Saints... If we pass on McFadden and trade him to Dallas, he'll become all world and our picks will become at best average players or busts. It just seems to alway work out that way. Based on previous Saints drafts... if we pick Dorsey, his career is over, and if we take Ellis, he will be too slow to make a difference, get fat and spend too much time playing Madden. These trades may actually happen and it's not totally out of the question although the other stuff I made up and shouldn't happen..... shouldn't? Well it's always a possiblity. Re: Trading Up to get Dorsey
All valid points. The only one I disagree with is McFadden being a RB like Reggie Bush. McFadden is an every down running back.

I'm not a McFadden believer obviously, so I agree that he doesn't make sense for the Saints at #5. If they're going to take a RB I'd much rather see ( like another thread in here ) the trade down to take Mendenhall, or possibly waiting until the 3rd to get Forte. I'd be very interested in the trade up to get Ellis though. |

Re: Trading Up to get Dorsey
If you don't think McFadden is the best running back in the league, then you obviously have never watched him play. The guy does it all: runs inside, runs outside, catches the ball, and throws it; and he does it all better than any other back in the draft. He's faster than any other draftee, besides Chris Johnson of ECU, and he can also be a power back. The only two knocks I see on him are that he can fumble sometimes, and he has character issues.
Now I'm not saying that I want to draft him, because I don't, but I do think he's by far the best back in the draft. He's the SEC's 2nd leading all-time rusher. That's saying something. I do like the idea of trading up for Dorsey, but I'd like to see how it plays out on draft day (ie see if Rivers or Ellis would fall to #10). |

Do you really think we're gonna pay another RB top 10 money this year?? No way to McFadden and his pencil legs.
BPA at 10 or let's entertain suitors for the pick. Plain and simple. |

Re: Trading Up to get Dorsey
Trading up would be a option if the FO has their eye on one of the two DT's. I would love to see either in Black n Gold. (I would prefer Dorsey if I had a choice though)

I agree and they both could end up going VERY early. So to sit and wait for one of them to fall to us would be foolish. I would also perfer Dorsey and I don't think I would move up into the top 5 to get him... (to costly). But at 6 if he is there I would have a deal worked out just in case and pull the trigger if he is.

Have you been paying attention to any of my threads or posts? I'm not against trading down if we get an adquate long term replacement for Deuce.
