FORGOTTEN MAN: DE Josh Savage
93 Josh Savage, DE Height/Weight: 6-4/276 | Birthdate: 09/28/1980 Birthplace: Ozark, AL, College: Utah | NFL Experience: 3 NFL CAREER – In his third season in the NFL, Savage joined the Saints’ practice squad just prior to the start of the regular season after being waived by the Tennessee Titans. He was signed to the active roster on December 22. He has played in 12 career games in parts of three NFL seasons, totaling six tackles. Savage was claimed off waivers from the Falcons on September 3, 2006 and went on to play in five games for the Titans. In a reserve role he registered a career-high four tackles with one quarterback pressure. In 2005, Savage saw action in one game after spending 12 weeks on the Falcons practice squad. As a rookie in 2004, Savage played in five games for Tampa Bay and totaled two tackles. He was originally signed by the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent on April 30, 2004. CAREER TRANSACTIONS – Signed by Saints to active roster from practice squad, 12/22/07; Signed to practice squad by Saints, 9/10/07; Waived by Tennessee Titans, 9/1/07; Claimed off waivers by Tennessee, 9/3/06; Waived by Atlanta Falcons, 9/2/06; Signed to Atlanta active roster from the practice squad, 12/28/05; Signed to Atlanta practice squad, 9/28/05; Waived by Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 9/3/05; Signed by Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent by, 4/30/04. 2006 – Played in five games as a reserve defensive end for Tennessee and recorded four tackles…Recorded a career-best two tackles at Jacksonville, 11/5. 2005 – Played in one game for Atlanta after being signed to the active roster from the practice squad prior to the season finale. 2004 – Played in five games for Tampa Bay and tallied two tackles. COLLEGE – Three-year starter at defensive end for the Utes, played in 44 career games with 34 starts…Totaled 120 tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss and 12 sacks…As senior, named first-team All-Mountain West after starting all 12 games with 47 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks and nine passes defensed…As junior, was an honorable mention all-conference selection after starting all 11 games and totaling 29 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and six sacks. Majored in exercise and sport science. |
