I think I might honestly hate Euphoria.
LOL. I'm sorry I just don't understand "The only thing Shocky has proven is that he isn't needed to win a SB." That's fairly ridiculous if you ask me. |

But its true. He didn't get them there, no? He didn't play in the playoffs, no? He didn't win the SB for them, no? If you are suppose to be a difference maker and so dominate then why wasn't he needed??? You really can't argue the point? |

There is one consolation for those of sound mind that can see past the glitter. When he starts waving his hands around in the air as defenders race past him with INT's, or when he is on the sideline pouting and showing up his QB, or when he is in Miami training while the rest of the team is in NO...we can sit back and laugh and say, "I tried to tell you, but NOOOOOOOOO!!" |

Re: shockey to saints? updated on pg 3
Bottom line is this.....If and when he joins this Saints football team he will be asked to do a job and conduct himself in a certain way as an employee of the New Orleans Saints. If he fails to do so I'm sure this head coach and GM will take the appropiate steps to fix the problem with Mr. Shockey.....so relax people either way it goes.lol

ProFootballTalk.com - SHOCKEY TO SAINTS STILL SIMMERING?
SHOCKEY TO SAINTS STILL SIMMERING? Posted by Mike Florio on April 10, 2008, 9:02 a.m. Last month, there were rumors and reports of discussions between the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants regarding a possible trade that would send tight end Jeremy Shockey from Broadway to the Bayou. As we’d last heard it, the Giants wanted a second-round pick and safety Roman Harper, and the Saints declined. But now renewed talk of a possible trade is emerging, from an unlikely source. Several readers have pointed out to us that WWE announcer Jim Ross has posted the following entry on his blog: “Reggie Bush was also at [WrestleMania] 24 and was hanging around Snoop Dogg’s trailer most of the afternoon on Sunday. My sources tell me that the New York Giants are going to trade outstanding TE Jeremy Shockey to Bush’s Saints, prior to the NFL draft. Shockey is an Oklahoma kid from Ada who told me last week he was looking forward to playing for the Saints.” Shockey has been the subject of extensive speculation, given that he played no role in the team’s stunning postseason run. Some believe that Eli Manning never would have become a championship-caliber quarterback is Shockey had not been injured. DALLAS COWBOYS Blog | The Dallas Morning News Shockey to the Saints? 2:18 PM Thu, Apr 10, 2008 | Permalink | Yahoo! Buzz Albert Breer E-mail News tips You won't believe this. Maybe you shouldn't. I didn't when I saw it linked on Pro Football Talk. Jeremy Shockey is reportedly being traded to the Saints. But that's not the stunning part of this news. It's who's "breaking" it. ">That's right, it's WWE announcer Jim Ross. He says his "sources" are saying the deal's going to happen. Now, while I certainly appreciate his sentiments in the paragraph above the one with the Shockey news, I'm having a hard time swallowing that these sources are anyone but Shockey and his buddies. This trade has been rumored for some time, so I certainly wouldn't rule it out. And after his show-stopping performance from a luxury suite at the Super Bowl -- during which he set a modern record for amount of girly drinks ordered by a pro football player -- the potential for hijinx with Shockey in the Big Easy would be off the charts. Here's guessing Roy Williams wouldn't be heart-broken with his departure from New York either. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Consider the sources and place in context... Though Florio has been able to sniff out a match strike in a National Forest, there's something there... I say the Saints probably would swap No. 1's to get out of the early first round money and then maybe send Harper to close the deal given FA signing Kaesviharn a chance to play; thing is with Giants needs at Safety, Kenny Phillips of "The U" is currently projected a late 1, second rounder... I Really enjoy this few weeks leading to the draft... |

yes you can... Tiki Barber was easily their best offensive player last year and also clashed with coaches n some players.. he retired.. Giants win the SB... they had both shockey and tiki last year and didnt really do jack... so that shows you that football is a TEAM game and not about one single player... all the "great" players are great b/c they have other good or great players around them... shockey has clashed with the giants coaches and some players, mainly eli, which is why he played better after shockey got hurt.... that happens.. not everyone will get along on a team... that doesnt mean that it couldnt happen here... i just dont see how you can fault a player for saying things about other coaches or players that are true... ex. when shockey said they there out played and out coached by the eagles.. everyone hammered him.. but anyone who watched that game would know that he was right.. they were out played and outcoached.. and it looked like he was the only one trying to win.. it was like everyone on the team just gave up |
Re: shockey to saints? updated on pg 3
im all for swapping number #1s for shockey, but giving up harper in the deal is stupid. harper is one of the very few bright spots on our D and we dont get better on that side of the ball by trading him.
plus trading number 1s would free up the money we'll have to pay at the #10 spot. this will give us more room to work with the contracts for smith, colston, and evans. i still think its important we get one, if not two, of those guys resigned this year. |
Re: shockey to saints? updated on pg 3
NO way 10 to 31! that is 700 points or the 26th pick in round 1. Come on we got Vilma for a 2nd rounder at the most. I go 19 ( philli) then to 31.
|
Re: shockey to saints? updated on pg 3
Agreed! 10 to 31 for Shockey just isn't worth it. I don't even think we should trade down from the 10 spot, unless its for Lito. We have an opportunity to draft a young explosive playmaker on defense (Ellis, Rivers or even Dorsey). Our offense was fine last year. We get Meachem this year. The addition of Shockey at the expense of a top ten defensive talent, and Harper, does not make us a better team.
Trading out for Lito? yes. Helps our defense. Trading out for Shockey? no. We still can't stop anyone..... And who knows, maybe Eric Johnson will actually catch the ball this year, before it hits his helmet..... |

One thing is for sure, this Trade idea gets a lot of attention.
Every thread I've seen about Shockey is extensive and everyone has an opinion. He would be a great addition, but let's hope that the subtraction we make to get him doesn't outweigh what he adds to this team. |
Re: shockey to saints? updated on pg 3
10 t0 19 = Litto
19 to 31 = Shockey |
Re: shockey to saints? updated on pg 3
See pros and cons to taking on Shockey...
Love the guys passion (can we resurrect Kyle Turley, man would that be a tandem)... Worry that the math may not work out for the Saints as Champ Kind pointed out... But here is something I keep thinking about...the advantage of a TE like Shockey is to take advantage of less athletic LB's... But isn't that why we have Reggie Bush; to use the WR's to stretch the field and create space for Bush... If Bush can't run between the Tackles then you start him upfield six yards and let him outrun everyone... Wouldn't Shockey compact that field or do you use him to wreck a Safety to increase the big play potential for Bush... Just another puzzle to the Shockey to Saints conundrum... |

ProFootballTalk.com - SHOCKEY WOULD WELCOME A TRADE TO THE SAINTS
SHOCKEY WOULD WELCOME A TRADE TO THE SAINTS Posted by Mike Florio on April 18, 2008, 7:16 a.m. Though the party line from the defending Super Bowl champs has been that tight end Jeremy Shockey isn’t available, the rumors of a trade to the New Orleans Saints (with even guys like Jim Ross of WWE advancing the ball) have been rampant. The New York media generally (with a couple of exceptions) has addressed this potential development only in connection with propagating the “we won’t trade him” vow. But now there’s a report from Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News that makes the possible move seem a lot more likely that many previously realized or believed. Vacchiano writes that Shockey “has told friends he would welcome a trade” to the Saints, and that Shockey “has been sounding off for more than a month” regarding frustrations with the Giants. The frustrations, Vacchiano says, have been fueled by the rumors of a possible trade to the Saints. From the team’s perspective, the basic position — “we’re not shopping Shockey” — remains intact. But Vacchiano has uncovered some details that make us think that the Giants are pretending to intend to keep Shockey simply in order to maximize his value via trade. “Anything can happen in personnel,” G.M. Jerry Reese told the media on Thursday. “But right now, Jeremy Shockey is our starting tight end and we’re looking forward for him to be back on the field for us this fall.” Sure they are. If by “looking forward” Reese means “dreading the very thought.” Citing unnamed sources, Vacchiano reports that the Giants have been talking to two teams about a possible deal. The Saints offered a second-rounder last month; we’ve previously heard from a very good source that the Giants wanted a second-round pick and safety Roman Harper. And perhaps the most remarkable aspect of Vacchiano’s item is his assertion that members of the organization agree with the theory that Shockey’s late-season injury and absence made quarterback Eli Manning, and thus the team, even better. That observation is the verbal equivalent of sticking a stubby thumb in Shockey’s eye, and it’s sure to make him only more vocal and/or demonstrative about wanting out. For now, Shockey has said nothing publicly. We’ve got a feeling that, very soon, we’ll all be hearing from Shockey, unless he has privately received a guarantee that he will be sent to a new team before the draft. |
Re: shockey to saints? updated on pg 3
What is relevant about Shockey is how the team improved once he was out and what that says about team chemistry. I can definitely see a scenario where Manning would make mistakes during games simply because he was worried about Shockey's reaction. That's too much to think about considering the speed of the NFL. Once he was gone, Manning no longer had to add to his reads what Shockey's reaction might be.
I think this is more about how Manning reacted to Shockey than Shockey being a cancer or such. My biggest concerns about Shockey coming to NO are about his health and what we'd have to give up because I know Brees won't let himself be affected by any TE temper tantrums. |
Re: shockey to saints? updated on pg 3
I think the whole "when he went down, they won the superbowl" saying doesn't have a lot of weight. You can't say that they won because he wasn't in there. How does anyone know that they wouldn't have won without him?
I can see the argument that he is a loud mouth, but that doesn't mean he doesn't help their team. I think we will wind up getting him for less than what they were asking. If we could get both Dorsey and Shockey, both Offense and Defense would be significantly better. My plan B if the Shockey thing doesn't go through is Cottam. We'll hear his name quite a bit next year. |
Re: shockey to saints? updated on pg 3
Michael Smith of ESPN just said he really believes the Shockey deal between the Saints and Giants will be done before the NFL draft. He said it would either be Shockey to the Saints for a 2nd round pick or Shockey for Roman Harper and a late 2nd day pick, not both like previously reported. He also added, if the trade not completed before the draft, it probably wont get done.

yea me too.. even tho i like harper at safety over bullocks.. i would be fine with that deal.. shockey for harper.. thats a no brainer
|
Re: shockey to saints? New Update on Page 6!!
Through all this, I have to keep wondering - what are we going to do about a starting safety? OK, so Roman walks. And that leaves KK - who played well at the end of last season, so ok, maybe he can become a starter. But who goes along with him? Bullocks should never have been a starter to begin with. He stinks, and I don't even want him as a backup.
So we're down (at least) one starting safety. Maybe two. With no backups. And on top of that, we're less another draft pick... Doesn't that scare anyone else around here? |
Re: shockey to saints? New Update on Page 6!!
yes.. im hoping they move bullocks to SS and im guessing they resign jay bellamy for depth
|
Re: shockey to saints? New Update on Page 6!!
I agree with what you're saying but if you can get shockey for harper and a 2nd day pick that highway robbery if you ask me. then we can take a guy like Brandon Phillips in the 2nd round.
|
Re: shockey to saints? New Update on Page 6!!
Did you mean Kenny Phillips?

Re: shockey to saints? New Update on Page 6!!
Bullocks plays the run better than Harper and is a better tackler. You can rag on his cover skills and butter fingers all you want... but you can't deny this. He was also very effective blitzing the quarterback when asked to do so. Sliding him over to SS would be a good move and drafting Harper's replacement can be done in the second or third round. I mean most of the folks here think the world of KK, let him start at FS.
I'm fine with Harper for Shockey... but no way with a second round pick with it. I like Harper... I'd rather see him succeed as a Saint. But if it's going to net us Shockey, I think you do it. |
Re: shockey to saints? New Update on Page 6!!
Assuming whomever we take at 10 is on the defensive side and will start, getting Phillips in the 2nd to rotate in with Bullocks and KK would be a formidable move, especially while adding yet another matchup problem for the offense to play with.
|
Re: shockey to saints? New Update on Page 6!!
I'd rather snag Dajuan Morgan in the 2nd round than Phillips.
|
Re: shockey to saints? New Update on Page 6!!
Dave...this is H.A.L. ........
Readings on the progression of the Saints indicate the following... Randall Gay will be moved to Safety (as he has done before) in a pinch, which leads me to conclude Mike McKenzie, Usama Young, Aaron Glenn, Jason Craft, Draft Pick #2, and yes, Jason David are your 2008 Cornerbacks... Have a Nice Day, Dave... |

Well, -if- we tray away Harper, which I still don't like, then we'd better (damn well better) keep the 2nd round pick to bring in another safety. So forget all thoughts of packaging it up for a trade for Dorsey. And I'm betting Philips will be gone by our 2nd rounder, so we could forget about him unless we move up.
The thought of starting an untested rookie back there, paired up with KK, just scares me half to death. Sorry Papz, I don't agree that Bullocks should be a starter. I respect your opinion, but on this one I choose to respectfully disagree. |

I just do not want to hurt our defense at all, but I am a huge Billy Miller fan. I think he is and was the best TE on our roster. I think he has major play making ability. I think if our defense is better then we will be a contender. If we wanted to trade for a big time play maker we should have made the trade for Deangelo Hall, or another bigtime DEFENSE playmaker.
|
Re: shockey to saints? New Update on Page 6!!
For some reason it always seems that any TE the Saints have had in recent times has been cursed. Cam Cleeland was always injured, the TE from Detroit didn't last, then Boo Williams, currently Eric Johnson. Billy Miller did pretty well when he had the opportunities. I would hate to see Harper go.
Stick with the TE's we currently have, keep Harper, and keep the focus on defense. |
Re: shockey to saints? New Update on Page 6!!
The worse thing I guess can happen is Shockey gets hurt and we go on to win the SB, without him.

Re: shockey to saints? New Update on Page 6!!
Shockey wants new role or trade
Posted: Saturday April 19, 2008 07:34AM ET The prevailing theory regarding the Giants and Jeremy Shockey is the team learned during its Super Bowl run they no longer need the Pro Bowl tight end. Truth is, Shockey made the first move toward a separation. And he did so before the playoffs even began. Shockey told the Giants in December he wanted a changed role in the offense or a trade to another team, according to a person familiar with discussions between Shockey, the Giants' coaching staff and front office. The person said Shockey threatened to sit out the upcoming season if neither request was granted. Shockey, 27, who suffered a broken fibula in a Dec. 16 loss to the Redskins, feels his career is being cut short by all the blocking he has been asked to do since Tom Coughlin became coach of the Giants in 2004. While blocking is an integral part of a tight end's job description, Shockey believes he was more effective as a receiver under former coach Jim Fassel and offensive coordinator Sean Payton, now the coach of the Saints, who are interested in trading for Shockey |
Re: shockey to saints? New Update on Page 6!!
I understand what people are saying about Eli making mistakes because he is worried about getting the ball to Shockey. Lets be real and compare leadership skills of Brees compared to Eli. I think Drew is the leader of this team and will be the leader regardless of who he has to throw to. Drew can handle Shockey's personality. Eli is just too passive to deal with him. If Shockey can fit in anywhere it is here. At first I was opposed to him coming here. After thinking about the differences in the two QB's I have changed that opinion.
