First post here, although I have been reading for several months:
"Melinda Deslatte / Associated Press BATON ROUGE, La. -- Louisiana is short of what it owes the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Hornets by more than $6 million this year under the state's contractual obligations to the pro sports teams. And the shortfall is expected to more than triple next year." This is exactly the kind of bad press that Louisiana doesn't need. ![]() Further more, we will never get consideration for another SuperBowl until a long term deal is reached. Also, media talk like this doesn't help our case for New Orleans remaining an NFL city. New Orleans, ironically, got a break because of Katrina in regards to keeping the Saints. Don't think for a second that if we slip a little either in late incentive payments or ticket sales the whole Los Angeles rumor won't come up again. Just pay them, get a long term deal done, and let's NEVER discuss this again. |

No sense in complaining about gas prices with Crusader on board. Those folks in Sweden and Norway pay out the nose for fuel, I think they may have the highest prices in the world for fuel. Us lucky folks in Jackson, Mississippi are hitting it at around $3.25 per gallon. Of course, folks around Jackson and the rest of the USA do not drive Mr. Bean cars either, and our government doesn't tax the hell out of fuel like the European Government does ... LOL
Anyway, back to the subject. Mark it in the books, both New Orleans teams will eventually be gone. I say give it about 5 years and New Orleans will no longer have major professional sports. Just my opinion, but I really don't see an alternative option. Very sad stuff... |

Forget the Hotel tax; they could add a fifty cents sur-tax to T-Shirt Sales on Canal Street and have that payment in 90 days!
Naming Rights... You Mean that BP or Shell can't step up and knock out a little black and gold nugget... I mean the Saints colors are freaking Black and Gold because of the oil industry... State legislators should stick to selling used cars and lawyers should go sue each other... |
