Melinda Deslatte / Associated Press

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Louisiana is short of what it owes the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Hornets by more than $6 million this year under the state's contractual obligations to the pro sports teams. And the shortfall is expected to more than triple next year.

Of course, they are ignoring the Billion Dollar surplus this year in the state coffers with oil royalties likely at an all time high. Same ol', same ol' in good ol' Louisiana!

You can vent here! Gasoline is getting out of hand. We are about to become a nation of city states because no one can afford to travel anywhere anymore. This might be the first time in ages I don't go to a Saints game this year because airline tickets are just ridiculous. And the oil companies keep on hogging up the profits like pigs that can't stop eating at the trough even though they are full. Solar and wind power cannot get here fast enough for me.

Well considering this entire country is going through a recession right now, I would say our "country" is in trouble.

Man I have to drive out of town every weekend ( MS, LA, Tenn, & GA) from March to the end of July taking my oldest daughter to Travel Tourney Softball games; plus hotel. $9,000.00 a year just in Softball travel.

First post here, although I have been reading for several months:

"Melinda Deslatte / Associated Press

This is exactly the kind of bad press that Louisiana doesn't need. If you make a deal, keep it!
Further more, we will never get consideration for another SuperBowl until a long term deal is reached. Also, media talk like this doesn't help our case for New Orleans remaining an NFL city. New Orleans, ironically, got a break because of Katrina in regards to keeping the Saints. Don't think for a second that if we slip a little either in late incentive payments or ticket sales the whole Los Angeles rumor won't come up again.
Just pay them, get a long term deal done, and let's NEVER discuss this again.

That sounds pretty cheap compared to the prices we have over here...Whats your price per gallon or liter?
