Saints will not draft a CB in the first round!!

For those of you who really believe that McKelvin or Cromartie or Talib or Jenkins is a realistic option for the Saints....forget it. At least not at the 10 spot. Everyone knows the Saints would love to move up to get Dorsey but it would cost too much. We all know that plan B would be to move up to get Ellis but people forget that Cincy is willing to move up to get him too and that they may outbid us for him. Then people assume that if we stay at 10, Keith Rivers is the pick and that is the closest thing to the truth. But what if he happens to get picked at 9? In that scenario, the next highest rated guys on the Saints board are Albert, Clady, and Mendenhall.

So for those of you hoping for help in the first round to secure that defensive backfield, wait till next year.

It's all in the reflexes.

And when did you get into the Saints war room to see the player ratings? Do not assume that you know this as fact. All I can tell you is that everything is hush, hush under Payton before the draft, so unless you work for the organization....don't post self-made rumors as facts.

look, I was one of the first to call Boba out when he made predictions during the year and had some "insider", and the guy proved me wrong. Boba knows someone or something inside the org. and i'll take his word over Kiper's or any other "pro" on the draft.....

Re: Saints will not draft a CB in the first round!!

Look...all I'm saying is don't assume things. If you here something from the inside, say "I heard from a good source." Don't come out posting speculation as fact. The organization is looking at trading up & trading down. We all know that they are going to pick the best player available, which is a good thing. Personally, I would love to have Clady, Albert, or Rivers at #10. They are all good value at this point & I agree that they are higher on my board than the CB's. Mendenhall....ugh...physically talented, but this draft is too deep at the position to use the #10 pick on one. I know Sean has a thing for him, but I hope it doesn't happen.

By the way....don't be surprised to see us trading down & picking up one of those CB's you said we wouldn't draft. It all depends on draft day.

Re: Saints will not draft a CB in the first round!!

This is posted just like that...take it how you want. I am not saying that will stay at 10...i dont know if they are going to stay there, move up or move down...and not once have my eyes seen the saints draft board. The reason for my post is simple:

-The Saints would love to get one of the DT's and that is no secret.
-If we are unable to move up and Rivers is there at 10, my BET is that he is the pick.
-In a worst case scenario, if all 3 are gone and the Saints cant find a partner to trade down with, the Saints will take an offensive player because that would be the highest ranked guys available.

Also, i would bet the farm that the Saints dont view CB as that high of need as some of the fans do. They are confident in MM's recovery. They like what they have seen in Randall Gay. The most talented CB they have on the roster is Usama Young and he should be further along in his development this year. And believe it or not, the FO really believes that David will be much better in year 2 than he was in year 1. So that gives you 4 solid CB's and 3 or them are under 26. Not to mention the fact that every CB in this draft has major issues.

-McKelvin----4 picks in 4 years????
-DRC---was not a shut down CB against weak competition and was at best a 3rd round pick before the offseason workouts.
Talib---to slow to play our style of defense.
Jenkins---Will not tackle and he has the mindset that he is a lot better than he really is and isnt exactly the most "coachable" guy out there.

I dont think that either of those 4 are worth the 10th pick of the draft and i would agree with the team if they went offense in the aforementioned scenario. Believe it if you want...it may not even matter if they are able to get one of the guys they really want. But i will tell you that my post is closer to the truth than any of the other speculation that has been brought up on this board.

It's all in the reflexes.
