Saints Go RB is Round One
Consider...
As much as we want to think Deuce is going to be ok, how many of you think Payton wants to put all his eggs in Deuce's return to form? Do you think Deuce can hold up for 19 games on 2 repaired knees? Assuming Deuce never regains form, are you and do you think Payton is ready to start the season with three 3rd down backs in Stecker, Thomas and Bush? Do you think Bush is best used as the premier 25 times a game RB or is it best to use him like as a slash player? Are you sure, or more importantly, does Payton think Thomas can handle the load? Does a true #1 RB make Brees job eaiser/safer? Does a true #1 RB keep defenses honest and make play action work? Do you think Payton (who's legacy is on offense) can resist offense in round one? Do you think we will be the #1 offense in the league in with the addition of Shockey too? I'm putting this out there... I think there is a great chance we will go with RB in round #1 and Shocky. Of course the board will implode and I'll look like the guru I am. If not, I'll eat crow and finally change my disturbing avatar. LOL Consider all the smoke screens thus far. How much have we heard about the Saints looking at RB? Enough said. Book it. Plus, next year we will be picking #32 and there is no way in hell we can get an great RB at 32 to replace Deuce. |

Re: Saints Go RB is Round One
Still haven't given up on your agenda?
We need another RB like we need another CB. Doesn't matter if we score 30 a game if we let our opponets score 40, we don't get into the playoffs. Ya think they may have learned that lesson? hmmm, lets see all the offseason moves have been on D so far with one MAJOR upgrade to go on D. |

Re: Saints Go RB is Round One
... with the 10th selection in the 2008 NFL draft, the New Orleans Saints select Alexis Serna, kicker, Oregon State.
... so Grammatica and Serna can sing together during training camp: "we're the 2 caballeros, 2 gay caballeros... they say we're birds of a featherrrrr we're tiny and whiny we celebrate each kick wildly so we pull our hamstrings togetherrrrr..." |

Re: Saints Go RB is Round One
Yea, Euph... It's just that I think Payton can't control himself. His Legacy is on offense and that's how he wants to be remembered. This team goes as Brees goes and will the whole time the man is our RB and Payton is our coach.
Still, I think it makes more since than trading for Dorsey. But don't get me wrong, we have so many ways we can go this year that make since and I agree with. I just think, if you select the best DIFFERENCE MAKER and player available at #10, it just maybe a RB. Even Mike D tends to agree that there is an outside chance we go RB in round one. The fact that the Saints haven't mentioned it much, makes me think they may be leaning that way too. I give it about a 10% chance of happening. I think with an offense like that, defensive players will flock here next year knowing that we have the best offense in the league and all we need is another few players on defense. Maybe we trade down with Philly to 17, get Lito, and draft the best RB on the board. If you think about it, all we really need on defense right now is a little depth at CB. I guess I'm like Payton. I want the best offense in the league. |

Remembered??? He ain't that old! I think anyone who takes the Saints HC job woulr love to win a SB here and be the first and only coach to have done that. All of the other stuff will play itself out.
I don't think Dungy cares one bit about being remembered for his D. Winning the SB was the biggest feather in his cap. He played CB and didn't put much into the position as a head coach. Payton hasn't show he is that selfish yet. |

Outside chance......yes. But there WILL BE NO LEGACY if our defense doesn't improve.
Think a guy like Matt Forte in round 3 could help?? YES. As far as drafting a RB next year; Who says we'll have to draft one?? |

Re: Saints Go RB is Round One
fine draft a RB next year. Right now we got to fix our D. Payton can score 30-35 a game but he won't have a job if he keeps letting teams score 40-50 on us.
BTW looks like he did get another offensive weapon now... Shockey. |
