It is just to early to risk trading players
Sure we get a great defensive player, "in college" but at what cost?
Lets be totally honest here, it is just to early in the rebuilding stage to trade any players we have, epically the good ones. Harper and Brown traded? Crazy. We are just into the third draft of rebuilding the team and we still need a lot but why risk taking a two step backwards in the process. Didn't we just get the OL 85% rebuilt? Brown is playing out of position and needs to move back to RT. All the other back ups have little to zero playing time. We are jumping the gun here a bit. Wait one more year and see what the bench really has first before we risk weakening the team on the offensive side. If we can afford to trade Brown then move him back to the RT position and lets see what LT the coaches think will take over the position first. If it does not work at least Drew, Duce and Bush are not paying the price for it. If it does, then look to trade who ever is odd man out before the trade deadline in 2008. Besides Brown is cheap at just over 700,000 a year. Harper? Harper is all we have in the secondary that is worth anything besides an injured and aging M&M. So why make more wholes in the secondary. Are we talking about taking to big of a gamble here? |

Re: It is just to early to risk trading players
I'm sharing the same train of thought.
This is not a rebuilding franchise... we're contenders. And if we expect to contend, as we should be, we can not just replace intricate parts of our team with rookies and inexperience backups. We were one game away from the Superbowl in 06 and was a field goal or two away from the playoffs last year... lets not forget that. As horrible defensively as we were last year, we still managed 7-9. If these players improve, even just a little bit, we're back in the playoffs. |

We aren't contenders... we have no D. You have to have a legit D to be a contender.
Are you willing to trade Brown of Dorsey and Shockey. If you don't say yes then something is wrong with ya. (Even I don't want Shockey But...) |

We are in year two of rebuilding. We are way ahead of the time table on offense. But it is an on going project. Contender yes. As long as we play inside.
Are you willing to trade Brown of Dorsey and Shockey? If it was one player and no picks? sure but picks are involved so it is not that simple or cheap. |

Not of the asking price is too high. Is adding Dorsey the only way to have a legit D? I think not. |

We get 2 starters for Brown who struggled this past year. We know what we are getting in Shockey. Dorsey will come in and start day one not to many will dispute that. You can't make this personal its buisness of football. You get 2 players to get excited about. How many bodies you want on the roster? You can only have so many and I'd rather have the best players at their position. |

Re: It is just to early to risk trading players
CB weak this year? There is no elite talent at the top but the second and third round are very strong.
We trade Brown and 10 for dorsey. we trade 40 and fifth for shockey. Pick in the 3rd, 6th, and 7th. then call it a day? sorry I like the way we built the offense better. It is not personal it is strictly football here. shockey is not going to amount to much if the move at LT is a flop because we jumped the gun a year before we were sure were we stood. that is not smart business. |

You already judgeing LT position with out the insight of what the team is doing. Give them some credit... You consider Payton an offensive master mind??? lots do... ya questioning his offense??? Trust the man... it'll be ok... |

Re: It is just to early to risk trading players
Round 2/ Round 3 possibilities
Tracy Porter, Indiana, 5107, 186, 4.33 Charles Godfrey, Iowa, 5116, 208, 4.44 Justin King, Penn St., 5107, 192, 4.31 Dwight Lowery, San Jose St., 5111, 201, 4.47 Orlando Scandrick Boise St. 5100, 192, 4.32 Tyvon Branch, Connecticut, 5113, 204, 4.31 Antwaun Molden, Eastern Kentucky, 6007, 195, 4.40 You got pure CBs and FS/CB tweeners that WILL be very good Starters in the NFL. yes starters. I feel very comfortable that 5 out 7 will be starters and have a long career in the NFL. Rounds and 3 are great rounds for more than CB. Trade 10 get shockey and pick 31 and call it a day. |
