"He told me, 'you had a first-round grade, but your off-the-field behavior has dropped you,'" Nicks said. "I told him I'm going to prove a lot of people wrong.'' Apparently that was enough for Payton as New Orleans spent their fifth pick on Nicks on Sunday, ending two days of frustration for the one-time North Salinas High and Hartnell College star. |
