Re: 86-man Minicamp Depth Chart
Sorry...4th round and it was Pittman. PT beat him out of his job and he was supose to be a steal coming out of Ohio State and just winning the National Championship. No matter..I still say Peyton will put the best player on the field.

Re: 86-man Minicamp Depth Chart
agree we will get the best players on the field. Young and Porter will not be cut. Talent alone gives them a spot.

Payton values versatility. Out of the group of 9 above, who lacks versatility? 8 Linemen max. Someone is going to be out of a job. Quote:
How's Campbell's back? If dude cannot play, then we won't be sticking around. Quote:
Colston, Meachem, Patton, Henderson, Copper, Arrington. Unfortunately I think Lance Moore is going to be out of a job. Quote:
Is Pressley healthy right now? Big Hollis better come to camp in shape. If Clancy or Lake come ready to play and Big Hollis is huffin and puffin, he may be out of a job this year. Quote:
We may need to get another DE before it's all over. Quote:

Interesting list. We're going to have to get rid of some OL and CBs before it's all over. SFIAH |
Re: 86-man Minicamp Depth Chart
Ya'll may be right that Porter is untouchable due to his being picked in the 2nd round this year. I'll consider that a good argument for now.
There is just too much unproven love for Young. I think he may be on the bubble. I don't have a lot of love for Glenn, but at least he's proven he can start in the NFL. If I guess, I'd say that it is Craft who is out of a job. I can't help but agree with SFIAH about the number of OL. Also, I think we need to consider C a weakness for now. I don't think it is unreasonable to have 5 LBs on the squad. WR, S, CB, OL, and DE also get plenty of time on special teams. Maybe you're right that we'll keep at least one more (especially with the health risks Morgan brings). I'm swayed by the idea that they may staff the ST, but this isn't obvious to me yet. Arrington may be good, but it looks to me like he may have a tough time making the squad, unless he can show that either he's our 4th WR or he is great on ST. I still think we pick up at least one OL, one DT, and possibly a RB from other team's casts offs at the roster cut down date. Does anyone think we run with just two QBs to free up a spot for the extra LB, OL, or CB? That seems like a possibility to me. Also, does it seem wrong to bring in more possible FBs? It isn't like they're going to make the team... |
Re: 86-man Minicamp Depth Chart
SFIAH, yea I agree with your assement, but I made the picks. Where's your picks. I think we keep 9 OL because there part of the best 53. Look for a player to be traded with a draft pick for Shockey. As for LB, I think we may keep another because they can play ST. The reason I kept so many CBs is because MM will not be able to start and because 4 can be on the field at the same time. Also I consider that Aaron Glen can play FS too.
Remember, this isn't the idea 53, it's just the best 53. That could easily change. Don't count out my dark horse this year, DT Orien Harris. |
Re: 86-man Minicamp Depth Chart
Agree with StFaninATLHell. Copper is too valuable He is still young, and will be coming into his own as a receiver. I think Arrington will prove to be more valuable than Lance Moore. I will miss Moore. He is a personal favorite.

Usama can't be "on the bubble" after a successful rookie season.

As I said in my assessment, Payton values versitility. An OL who is a T/G or G/C or RT/LT will be more valuable than one who plays only one position. Depending on how the young guys do, Nesbit may be in danger. Quote:

That's why I think guys like Moore and Craft will be let go and guys like Copper will make the squad. Moore's roles of punt returner and receiver have been supplanted by Porter and Arrington and Craft's backup/nickle role will be taken full time by Young and Porter. Copper is a special team's stud, so he'll be kept. SFIAH |
Re: 86-man Minicamp Depth Chart
25 tackles and 14 games played doesn't impress me too much.
If Young is so good, why do we keep trying to get more players at the position - Glenn, Porter, and Gay? I'd rather see Craft go, but Young is hardly guaranteed a roster spot. I really don't see us keep 11 DBs. I suppose, it does end up depending a bit on who is going to return kicks for us (and I have no really good guess at that). Also, I don't think that Nesbit is going to be the odd man out. He's got too much experience, he's a starter, and he can play all the interior spots. |
Re: 86-man Minicamp Depth Chart
SFIAH... Craft was one of the bright spots playing nickel the last 2 years. Moore has the best hands on the team and always finds a way to get open. He isn't much with the ball in his hands but he moves the chains. Cooper couldn't get on the field with Moore in front of him. Still, your point is well taken.
