Loomis on Sirius

Said we didn't do a very good job of hiding what we were looking for (ellis or dorsey); Talked to every team in front of them the cost to move up; talked to STL and K.C. about moving up to 2 or 5, but we're happy to have Sedrick Ellis; Clearly we needed to improve our defense, in particular our pass rush and run defense up middle. Sed is a big, strong guy up the middle;

Shockey trade: just couldn't come to conclusion on Shockey deal; For the most part that's dead, I don't see that being rekindled;

Porter: We've been looking at getting a talented young corner on our team; and we're excited to have him; Schein said pre-draft Arrington would be top steal on day 2; Loomis: has good size, good hands, key for him to recognize what kept him from being drafted higher, his character issues; think he's coming in with chip on his shouylder and trying to get that reputation off his back; Carl Nicks is also a high reward, moderate risk type of players;

How do you weigh and balance player's risk/reward as far as past history when picking in the draft? Have to look at each individual case and in these 2 cases, we had two kids who made some mistakes and have motivation to correct that.

Chris Henry, interested? In this case, we'll probably stay away from that player. Alexander: We wanted to give him a physical and kick the tires; haven't made decision on whether to offer him a contract and want to see how Deuce's recovery is going.

Offseason as a whole: Faine loss was disappointing but we resigned most of our players and improved many areas on defense and think we got some guys who can help us; offensively, Robert meachem is a key; his knee seems to be in really good shape and he's done a good job reshaping his body. Expectations? Compete for a starting job and if not, get some quality playing time for us. Said knee issues were main reason Meachem didn't contribute last year.

McKenzie and McAllister: Deuce is further along; anticipates both guys being ready for training camp.

RB position: We're still looking for a RB and think there will be a guy or two available but at the end of the day we're excited about Pierre Thomas.
