Thoughts on tonights game.
After the first preseason game against the Eagles I said that I wasn't too concerned about the lack luster effort. I looked for improvement by the defense in the second game and I did see a big impovement against the run. The pass defense looked terrible though.
I wasn't too concerned about the pass defense though, because it usually takes the secondary more time to get on the same page and it was after all only the second preseason game. You can contribute a lot of the defensive short comings on palyers not being on the same page and the games only being evaluation games, but tonights match up should provide us with SOME answers to what kind of defense we can expect in the regular season. Dale Carter will be back and he will be matched up against Terrell Owens and this should give us some kind of idea as to if Dale is going to sure up the secondary. Ashley Ambrose is suppose to start and I have no idea why. This guy has looked terrible to me. I will be keeping a close eye on him. If he doesn't look better tonight I think this is going to be a problem for us the entire year. The front four has generated next to nothing as fas as a pass rush goes. They need to step it up tonight. The run defense looked good up the middle against the Jets, but weak on runs to the outside. The linebackers need to do a better job of getting to the edge and shutting this down. I said I wasn't concerned about the first preseason game, but if they don't play well tonight I will have some major concerns. This is the way I see it and I would like nothing better than to destroy the 49'ers. I don't care if it's in a game of marbles. It won\'t matter if we beat them 45-10 Billy. There will still be a buch of whining and complaining here why we gave up 10.
Maybe I got this forum thing all wrong. Maybe its just an outlet to biitch and complain as much as humanly possible. You\'d think we were the 2000 Bengals. Its getting old. |

We have a good team with a legit shot at going all the way. No matter what anyone points out to me about this or that, I say let\'s give it a chance first, before all the gloom and doom talk. |

Thoughts on tonights game.
I was not able to see the jets game up here but from what i saw in the eagles game and through the media I have some of the same concerns. On defense I have been taking the play with a grain of salt knowing the team may have not been to focused on all areas of the game. Tonight will be different though.
#1 concern is the Def line has to cut off the outside run. If this does not happen then the cb\'s are going to play weak. I am interested in hearing how the def. starters play against SF. with a package of stunts. It is hard to see how the def team plays as a unit when its all vanilla. Ambrose getting the start is a good thing. Lets see how he plays when the \"game is on\". Better to find out tonight then against SEA. Offense is also a concern for me. This teams starting unit needs to start finding the end zone. Having the mindset they can score when they need to is not the same as actually doing it. Last year is last year and I hope they are not relying on that success and thinking they don\'t need to worry about scoring points. |

Controversy sells! This board would be boring if everyone only talked about how great the saints are.

Deuce is over-rated. Everybody warned us about him being injury-prone and his ankle sprain last year cost us a friggin shot at a playoff spot. Well he came into camp fat, and he\'ll be hurt by week 8. We would have been better off if we\'d kept Ricky Williams. At least he gave Miami 16 solid games last year. Deuce has never played a whole season without being injured, and last year just proved all his critics right. And don\'t get me started about that poser Joe Horn. His mouth cost us 2 games last year. It would be different if he backed it up, but he didn\'t. HE\'s A BALL DROPPING LOSER!!!! |
Whether we agree or disagree; its all for Him.

Yes you will...
but not how you\'re thinking Saintfan. I\'m sure Tweaky will moan about this post, and Billy will talk about how crazy I am, but after 3 preseason games I am beginning to think 7-9 or 8-8 is very realistic - for a few reasons. First, and most importantly, that\'s where MOST of the lines in Vegas are for the Saints. Vegas isn\'t often wrong with this kind of stuff, and it\'s very rare that they\'re more than 2 games off. Next, our defense is worse. That\'s right. We are worse right now then we were at this time last year. I don\'t want to hear any talk about talent - I\'m talking about results on the field. Our corners are all a year older and showing their age. Our MLB - maybe our biggest area of need - is the guy who was our backup last year - that\'s a step DOWN. Mitchel, right now, is no where near Sammy Knight\'s level of play, and frankly Tebucky has been disappointing. Our offense will be good, I know it will, but thus far it\'s not firing on all cylanders. If we\'re not fast out of the gate this year, it will be a long season - which is what I\'m preparing myself for. |
