EB WhoDats, I dont show any special construction on I-10 in La, other than usual crap this weekend. Tx is a different story, if you're leaving Houston. see below.
N.O. locals, I did notice the Huey P. Long widening work continues Saturday, according to one source, and Monday, according to the other. check your local sources. Also, B.R. brothers, looks like you're losing a lane tuesday at Siegan Ln. both ways on I-10. Houston Hou-Dats : I-10 Baytown Fwy EB TOTALLY FREAKIN CLOSED at 610 East. from tonight 9pm, till monday morning. The feeders are also fried from Federal to the Loop. Pretty sure WB will be open, for the ride home. I dont know what I'll do, I guess take 225 to either the Washburn Tunnel or to 146 Hartman Bridge, which is a hell of a scenic route. I still say its more fun to take hwy 73 thru Port Arthur than the construction between Beaumont & Orange. See yall at the Dome Sunday morning. |

Re: Saints Fans Gameday March down I-10
During the football season I envy you guys for getting to the games, tailgating, etc... Me? Once a year I'm on a plane to New Orleans to try and catch a game. If I don't get tickets, bah humbug! But still in love with the city. Be there this year on Honeymoon and taking in the game against Carolina when hopefully the next day's headlines will be 'Toothless Panthers de-clawed at unbeaten Saints!'

I will never drive I-10 between N.O. & Baton Rouge back again---its a trap. You cant get off. And there is always something stupid happening. 3 times--- 3 times! We have to come to a dead stop, then brakes, then crawl then brakes.... Over 2 hours this damn stretch of road. This was 2 1/2 hours after the game. Never again. River Parishes here I come! At least in the small towns, I can divert when necessary. Hwy 73 from Orange to Winnie was outstanding! If you're coming from Houston, this is a great route. Same time frame as staying on 10, with zero traffic, zero stress + you go over the historic Rainbow Bridge of Port Arthur. You might lose 10 minutes going thru Bridge City, but then you could do 90 from P.A. to Winnie--- but you shouldnt, because that would be illegal. right? mmm. hmmm. whoa, we're tired. All good, monday is recovery day. |

Re: Saints Fans Gameday March down I-10
This is in reply to SkyMike's question on where we park and route back to Houston. We come in I-10 east and take the Loyola exit which is after the dome/Claiborne exit. Turn left on Loyola and park in the garage on the right next to the building which has Allegro's bar on the first floor which is right across the street from Poydras Plaza which I can't wait for Benson to re-open. We exit the garage facing S.Rampart turning right on S.Rampart, go a couple of blocks turn right on Julia then a left back on Loyola then right which gets us right on I-10 west heading back to Houston. Now yesterday there was an accident over the spillway so we exited 310 and drove airline (Hwy61) to Laplace then got back on I-10. Now if this construction in Baton Rouge continues we will probably bypass on Hwy 30 from Gonzales to Baton Rouge by the bridge. In all we left the parking garage at 4:25 and we were back in The Woodlands exactly at 11:00 with 2 stops. By the way did anyone see the Carrolton overpass on I-10 with all the fans cheering the cars as we passed.

Looks like we're gonna be coming in Monday morning, should be in N.O. around 1pm. Gonna goof around the French Quarter, maybe Uptown for
a few hours before the game. Who's going to the game? |

Re: Saints Fans Gameday March down I-10
Just checked my screens for Baton Rouge & New Orleans, and they dont show any major roadwork for Monday.
---Apparently you do have something cooking along Jefferson Hwy @ the Huey P. (I dont see anything on the widening project, but there's no way that can already be finished---anybody drove over the Huey lately?) ---apparently N. Causeway is a bad place to be at Veterans. Just attempting to read the report sounds like its all torn up there. I'm still 50/50 on driving in thru the River Parishes. I'm fed up with 10 between N.O. & B.R. Besides, there's a lot of stuff we like along the River route. Anybody know any trouble spots for Hou-Dats driving in on I-10? (or along hwy 1/River Parishes, or 90 heading to the West Bank from Boutte) |
