riiiiight, that's why
Ben got sacked only 46 times last year
McNabb got sacked only 23 times last year
whereas Brees got sacked 13 times... he's a freaking statue.

That Brees doesn't run around the entire backfield like a chicken with his head cut off doesn't mean he's not mobile. He, much like Payton Manning, has tremendous pocket awareness and is able to use the pocket to his advantage, and has great footwork. That's why Brees doesn't get sacked, not because he's got a great o-line. While these "mobile" QBs are trying to run away from the defenders, Brees and Manning dodge them very effectively within a small area using the bodies and space around them. Brady is not as good, actually.

Your right about that. He does use the bodies around him. Afterall isn't that what blockers are for? I think the Jets might get a few sacks, but then again it is in the dome and we have done a better job there than on the road. Sharpe and Dukes both are saying that the Jets aren't going to be able to keep up with our high scoring offense. Is it sunday yet? Mannnnn I cant wait.

tom brady got sacked on average, 25 times over the past several seasons
Peyton Manning got sacked on average, nearly 18 times a season over his career

pocket passers do operate in a smaller area but good ones like brees and manning are able to avoid the rush like you said

brady is not elusive at all, he doesnt have great pocket awareness....he doesnt make the best decisions all the time....the reason he is listed in the top 3 QBs all the time is because of his rings and his offensive line that gives him ample time to make every decision on the football field.....when he gets hurried like against the giants, he struggles....brees doesnt

this. He's a pocket passer but he's not a tree. Anyone who's watched a game knows that. He'll get a sack here or there but c'mon

Re: Dumbest comment I have ever seen on Brees

I just can't believe Brees is still being compared to Manning and Brady. I feel like Brady was over rated and Manning is probably the only other QB in the league that can compare to Brees. Manning and Brees work ethic are alot alike. This might be the year Brady shows his true colors. The only reason he was so explosive was because he had the supporting cast. Of course it takes a supporting cast for any QB to be success. The O line needs to get more love. Without them hed be getting sacked and hurried every down. Shout out to the O-line: Jonathan Goodwin, Nick Leckey, Carl Nicks, Jon Stinchcomb, Jermon Bushrod, Jahri Evans, Zach Strief, and Jamar Nesbit for doing such a good job on protecting Brees.

His comment about "pocket passers" is ridiculous. Look back thru history and tell me how many running QB's have won championships in the NFL? Maybe a couple but all of them were able to stand in the pocket and make the throws necessary to win.

I guess it depends on what's meant by "running QB's"

There have been few great QB's who could also run the ball well when necessary...

John Elway
Steve Young
Johnny Unitas
I think Doug Williams was a decent runner too.

But if you mean the real running QB's like Vick and Vince Young, yeah, I'll take a so called pocket passer all day long.

Williams wasn't a running QB. Maybe you are thinking of Warren Moon? He wasn't a "running" QB but he took off when needed. There's also Staubach, Tarkenton, Cunningham, Gannon...

I guess is all semantics... someone says "pocket passer" and people think Drew Bledsoe or Byron Leftwich, guys who stand there and literary don't move. Maybe we should have another term for QBs who are able to move efficiently within the pocket.
