"I hope you're watching!"

Did anyone else notice when Sean Payton yell those words to Reggie on the side line?

Right after the Jets scored a TD on Reggie's fumble in the 3rd qtr... Payton is cruising the sideline and, as he stares Reggie down, he says "I hope you're watching".

Talk about frustration. The last time I saw Payton do that was to Joe Horn. "We didn't even need you".

WHAT IS WRONG WITH BUSH!!???

.. he also said to Bush "what the f* was that?", twice, as Bush walked to the sideline after the fumble.

Reggie's time in NO is over.

Sure he has dazzled here and there, and unwilingly or not became the icon that represented the rebuilding of not only the Saints but the city of NO when he was drafted but now he's just a liability out there.

He's no longer a Saint. He's now a 'sinner'...

The reason the Saints won't win the SB this year... REGGIE BUSH is on the roster.

Yeah yeah I see more and more of you are coming over to the dark side.
He is a high draft pick getting a butt load of money and his team should need him in order to win. All he is doing is trying to hand the game over to the other team WTF? A professional RB running in traffic RAP UP THE BALL knuckle head. Payton was right "WHAT THE F**K ARE YOU DOING"?

To bad some of you can't get your money back on his jersey beceause you won't be wearing it next year.

Hard to argue with you right now Euph. I'll admit. Bush does not seem to be proving his worth. Can he bounce back after the bye week?

Assuming we make it there, unless he turns the ball over a couple of times, if we don't win, I highly doubt the main reason why we'd lose would be Bush. Let's not take it that far.

I don't know about going over to the dark side, but I do have to give you credit for saying Bush wouldn't be the same runner he was in college in the pros. Though at the time I felt as if the claim was unsubstantiated (because nothing in his resume suggested he wouldn't be that elite player), it turns out in the end you were correct.

With that said, even though some of us are down on him, he's still is a pretty good football player and he has helped us win plenty of games. He's more than just a guy that helps create revenue for the team and the league.

Agreed, but now the question is what Reggie would be worth to re-sign?

Well I don't know if I would call him a football player... sure he has some speed and feet that would do him well on "DANCING WITH THE STARS". But when you are drafted #2 and making the money he's making you'd expect that player to put the team on his back. When the game is on the line and you have him on the bench... well thats all I have to say about that.

i think hes going to have too much pride to take a pay cut to reflect his worth. if he wants to restructure to a contract thats heavy in incentives, sure sign him up. otherwise, he can take his act elsewhere.

Re: "I hope you're watching!"

I love to watch Reggie play, but at the same time he makes me sweat bullets. Every time he touches the ball, I expect something bad to happen.

Can anyone believe Payton doesn't feel the same thing? I think he does, and I think that's why Reggie's role is slowly declining.

Reggie is such a polarizing force on this forum, and other forums far and wide. Even TV sports commentators argue about him. Can anyone believe the Saints players and staff don't do the same thing?

Payton obviously still has Reggie's back, but his patience are probably growing thin. If fumbling or running backwards costs us a game, I can imagine Reggie being traded or cut loose pretty soon. His role is already reduced relative to his salary, so reducing his role further is not a good option.

Re: "I hope you're watching!"

I thin everyone expects a home run from him everytime he touches the ball and I think he tries to deliver that causing issues. He needs to just forget his "superstar" status and play the game and not fall into the hype expectations. He is still a playmaker just not every play.

I think Bush had his best game in a while except he fumbled and let the Jets back in the game.

Hopefully, he is carrying a football with both hands this morning.

Bush should call Tiki Barber. His career was almost over before he learned how to carry and protect the ball.

Re: "I hope you're watching!"

I think Lynwood has it right. Bush is trying to win the game on every play instead of taking what the defense (or punt coverage) gives him. He's in a slump and he has the professional attitude to get over it.

Sure, he is never going to be a power runner, but he can be a consistent threat to take it to the house. You can't overlook the value he brings with his receiving skills. And I've seen 3 linebackers follow him to one side of the field when he doesn't even have the ball. That in itself is huge.

He is in the dog house right now with the fans and coach, as he should be. But he will get out of it as long as he stays healthy.

I bet if they tracked arm tackles, Bush would lead the league. He's so easy to bring down. He plays scared.

I've been a big defender of Bush because he contributes in so many aspects of the game, but he's been forcing it going on 4 years now. The offense, even when we're playing slow, has a real good rhythm. They just flow down the field, everyone seems poised and focused. Then Reggie comes in and spazzes out. He's becoming more and more like the proverbial scoop of dog poop in the barrel full of ice cream.

i love reggies ability but this game put me over the edge.....even when he has a decent outing yardage-wise, its still overshadowed by a turnover because that is what hes becoming known for

im on the PT bandwagon now after that showin against the jets....he showed me heart....thats what i wasnt seeing from games in the past.....you got me now PT, dont let me down

Bush is the most expensive decoy in the league.

Re: "I hope you're watching!"

Going to be hard for me to bash him too hard but disappointing would be a good start. Hard to say what his role will be here if any in the future. He just does not get the job done. Team is carrying this guy on their backs (Thomas, Bell and Hamiliton) Don't want to see him crawl in a hole but he should really be ashamed. Will this motivate him or has his confidence been so rattled that he will not recover is the question. Sure lacks power the competition rocks him everytime or he runs out of bounds. Could sign him up for a clay eating contest because his face winds up up the dirt more often than not.

Not sure I buy that anymore either. Scooting out of bounds 3 yards before contact instead of turning it upfield for more yardage isn't my idea of trying to win on every play.

Reggie is still an assett to this team, but as a 3rd RB or a change of pace scat back.

Reggie's favorite play...

Take a HB dive play, bounce it outside, and run it out of bounds. In a game of physical contact, where every inch counts, Reggie is what you consider soft. I really hope he finishes the season strong and on the upswing... he'll have much more trade value during the off season.

Anyone else see Payton on the sideline....

...tell Reggie Bush, "Thank You!" when the Jets scored after his fumble? It's about time he put his 'big boy' pants on and either play real NFL football or go to the Canadian League. I'm going to get flamed for saying this, but, I have never felt comfortable with Bush on the team. I have a sinking feeling everytime they line him up in the backfield or as a punt returner. My wife usually gets to hear a new string of cuss words when it happens. Payton needs to use him as a decoy, wide-out or waterboy and leave the rest to the real professionals.

How bout PT's fumble yesterday and a helmetless Drew Brees that had to dive in a recover the ball for us. No one mentions that. Everyone just wants to bash Bush because he's an easy target. No one looks at all the great runs and blitz pick up's he had yesterday. I'm not gonna flame you, just say that you and all of the Bush haters have your mind so made up on him, that you wont pour out any other criticism where it needs to be. I dont think we should bench Bush nor ever think about it. I guess he is our new punching bag since Jason David got cut.

Re: Anyone else see Payton on the sideline....

Hmmm..wanna compare stats this year?
Reggie:WK OPP RESULT Rushing Receiving Fumbles
Att Yds Avg Lng TD Rec Yds Avg Lng TD FUM Lost
2 @ PHI W 48-22 10 33 3.3 19T 1 3 42 14.0 29 0 -- --
3 @ BUF W 27-7 13 64 4.9 17 0 3 17 5.7 12 0 -- --
4 NYJ W 24-10 6 37 6.2 12 0 3 7 2.3 4 0 1 1

P.T.=3 @ BUF W 27-7 14 126 9.0 34T 2 -- -- -- -- -- -- --
4 NYJ W 24-10 19 86 4.5 18 1 4 46 11.5 36 0 1 0

Anything leap out at ya? How about P.T.= 212 yards rushing, 3 TD's
R.B.= 131 yards rushing, 1 TD
And if P.T. starts to look like Reggie with his backward-ass running and sideways running, then I would be all over hime, but DOH! Doesn't happen.

Wow, you two sound a little like Dierdorf and the Jets. Compare the stats. What if we didn't have a pounder for our running back? I think we all saw how that went. But hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion, just don't expect some to drink the kool-aid.

One of the quirks of fandom is the need for a "designated goat."

We've always had one. Dave Waymer in the 80's. We were "SB bound, if we'd just get rid of that damn Dave Waymer."

I think Toi Cook was it in the late 80's
... all the way up to Freddy Thomas--- We were "SB bound, if we'd just get rid of that damn Fred Thomas."

... Jason David.

I've seen much, and I dont need to flame anyone. Too happy. and tired.
and anyway, this board is for fun.

Maybe Reggie isnt going to do anything anymore. Maybe he's still a bit hurt
and isnt saying anything. I think we have the luxury with this team to play
the lotto with him, and take a chance that he will bust loose, and then, watch out! He still looks like he's ready to erupt any moment to me, and I'm rooting for him.

We've given up on guys in the past too early, who came back and punked us.

Learn from the past, young grasshopper

(gong goes "boooooozhhhhhhhh.")

Wrong, it is a joke

2009 stats...
Reggie fumbles every 16 touches (3 fumbles)
Pierre fumbles every 38 touches (1 fumble)

For their ENTIRE career...
Reggie fumbles every 46 carries
Pierre fumbles every 167 carries

Worst use of "Best.Post.Ever" ever. No joke.:)
