Giants' Eli has plantar fasciitis, but can still play
Possible lucky break for the Saints???
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Eli Manning has been diagnosed with inflamed tissue in his right foot, or plantar fasciitis. The New York Giants quarterback had an MRI on Monday afternoon, and team physician Russell Warren told Manning he could play this weekend against the Oakland Raiders if he could tolerate the pain. The Giants have listed him as day to day with the injury. Manning has soreness and swelling in the heel and arch area on the bottom of his foot. The injury was most likely caused when Manning got up on his toes as he dropped back and attempted to pass to Steve Smith in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game in Kansas City. The injury is an inflammation of the plantar fascia, a tight band of connective tissue in the arch of the foot. It's an injury that develops over time and usually lingers. |

That stinks for Eli. He will probably be fighting with this for weeks to come as well. Against the Raiders. I would sit him.

Plantar Fasciitis is no fun at all... Had problems with it for 4+ years until I broke my ankle and it finally healed correctly.
The more you walk the more it gets inflamed - running makes it even worse. Most people get it due to improper support in their shoes... |

i had it a couple months ago.....i had that and a torn quadricep so walking was pretty difficult.......
the doctor told me it was caused by quick acceleration and excess weight on the heel it hurt like a mother but im not as tough as a professional football player.....im sure eli will be alright |

I would think it would take him being hit by a MAC truck and a full body cast not to play in the game Vs the Saints
