Hey all!
I'm looking forward to our game on Sunday ... well, sort of. I told my buddy, a big Saints fan, in June that the Saints were my pick to go to the Super Bowl this year. In fact, I thought you were going to go last year if you could improve your defense just a little bit. Well, you didn't improve and so you didn't go. I think Brees will have a very good day passing the rock, but we do have a pretty good pass rush. Also, we're tough against the run. Our weakness is actually your strength ... we do not defend the pass very well as we have 2 rookies and new safety in our secondary. If we cannot get pressure on Brees then he will have a lot of fun throwing the ball. We're going to try to do to you what other teams used to try to do to us when we had Dan Marino ... run the ball and control the clock. We want to keep Brees off the field. Anyways, good luck on Sunday, but don't underestimate us. Hopefully we will not be looking past this game and at the AFC East divisional Jets game which is the following week. Dave |

Welcome, Dave. I know the Saints won't be looking past the Fins, but I already am. lol. Should be an interesting game to see how Gregg Williams plans for the Wildcat. The Fins are the only team in the league that runs it well, so it will be a challenge for our D. However, the defense is a lot more solid than people outside of being Saints fans give them credit for. They swarm the ball carrier at all times, and the secondary is the most talented group I've ever seen from the Saints. GW will send a variety of blitz packages to rattle the young Henne, I'm sure. He's looked very poised in his first couple of games, but this will be another big test for him.
I do think Brees will have another big game through the air, and the run game should be ok, because the Fins are going to do what they can to stop the pass. So far the only teams that have really kept Brees in check have been AFC East teams. Drew didn't have a TD pass in either of games against Buffalo and NYJ. I'm sure the Fins D-Coordinator has viewed tape of those games to see what they did differently than any other team the Saints have played. Good luck this weekend. |

Welcome and thanks for the input. This will not be a walk in the park for our boys but I do anticipate a win after a close game. I agree about Drew airing it out against a fairly good run defense and porous secondary. The Dolphins fans seem to be a pretty good group of folks.

Halo, are we a part of F2FA? Or did they pick The Bathhouse?
It would be cool if we were part of it, so long as it doesnt cost any money. |

We are a part of F2FA Mike and welcome aboard Dave. Mentioning your pass rush, with Porter back healthy I believe and Taylor showing signs of life, I'm also very interested to see how our line defends your pass rush. I agree with what you said about controlling the clock... the last thing Miami would want is to be in a shoot out with the Saints. It would probably get ugly.

The reason we run the Wild Cat so well is Ronnie Brown. He picks the hole and he's always moving forward. He's finally healthy and Ricky's looking better than he has in several years. Also, one thing that Parcells has done was upgrade the offensive line. They aren't the best pass-blockers, but they can open up some huge holes in the running game. We've dominated every defensive line we've faced so far. If you want to beat us you'll have to make us pass the ball. Henne is inexperienced, so, he's due some "Sanchez"-type of games if he is forced to win the game. |
