New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton
Friday, November 6, 2009

Opening Statement:

“Here’s what he have on the injuries: Sedrick Ellis (knee) did not practice and he’s out for this game; Lance Moore (ankle) did not practice and he’s out; Kendrick Clancy (knee) did not practice and he’s out; Scott Fujita (calf) did not practice, he’s questionable; Malcolm Jenkins (ankle) was full, he’s probable; Marvin Mitchell (foot) was full, he’s probable; Jonathan Goodwin (knee) was full and he’s probable. Garrett Hartley tweaked his ankle halfway through practice so he was limited and he’d be doubtful with that.”

Courtney Roby hasn’t been used too much in the offense. With Lance Moore out, would he become more of a factor?

“I think he’s someone that will be in and will play in some personnel groupings and used primarily as a returner but also as a receiver as well.”

What will you do at defensive tackle? Will you have to add a guy?

“There’s one of two things and we’ll know by tomorrow. We have a guy like (DeMario) Pressley that we can move and we have some plan B options internally. We’ll see.”

What are the keys to the game in your opinion?

“I think the turnovers are important. Both teams are coming off of tough games in regards to logistics. We played the Monday night game and Carolina was on the road on the West Coast against Arizona, so we’re coming back. One of the things I just mentioned to the team that we have two more days before we play and the rest is going to be important. Obviously the turnovers are important and winning on first and second down – whether that’s defending the run or being able to run and staying out of the long-yardage situations. Ball security would be right up there.”

Are you superstitious at all?

“Not really.”
