How About the 2009 Draft?
Yeah...I've been gone a while...blame it on the wife...
Malcolm Jenkins having the awareness to get both feet in to down that punt inside the 2. Morestead punting that ball to get inside the 2 with less than 3 minutes left. Not to mention those touchbacks that kept our suspect kick coverage from having to cover. 2 of our draft picks from THIS YEAR having a HUGE impact to win this game. This game was HUGE! 8-0 is unfamiliar to me, as I don't know how to handle such success...chalk it up to +30 years of watching this team. Also, shout out to Bushrod and freakin' Meachum...J. Brown who? Just kidding. Honestly, I figured we'd go 9-7...we might go slightly better than that...at least I hope so. Loving some Saints...all the way from Okinawa and eating a lot of crow about Shockey. |

Re: How About the 2009 Draft?
Morstead has been below average, Jenkins has been a pleasant surprise on special teams. But they're both still rookies so I think they'll get better.
So far, 2009 draft = C- |

Re: How About the 2009 Draft?
I'd give it a B-...Jenkins made some awesome ST plays earlier in the year. Also, Morestead has made some critical tackles on ST plus his touchbacks have helped. Love the hang time, but he's still inconsistent. As far as rookies go, these guys have a ways to go, but they are showing so much potential. Can't wait to see Jenkins get in on the nickle and get some picks to boost that confidence. Agree to disagree, and with this type of disagreement over our 8-0 team, I'd much prefer this.

Re: How About the 2009 Draft?
I've been here a little over a year...diving is the bomb, food is the bomb, the folks are the bomb. If we could move Okinawa to the middle of the Gulf of Mexico, it'd be perfect for me. It's so much better than fumbling with IEDs in Afghanistan and Iraq, my brother. Saints football keeps me going like you wouldn't believe. Thanks for the shout out!

When you dive, do you dive wrecks or do they have coral reefs? I love me some Saints football.

Re: How About the 2009 Draft?
I've done 1 wreck dive, and it was completely cool. Can't wait to dive close to home, though. I'll take diving the Gulf over the west Pacific simply because of fact that I can come home to south Mississippi. But, how about those rookies! They came up BIG when we needed them. Would love to see some other folks step up from previous drafts and have an impact. Like Usama Young (what happened with his safety play against NYG?) or the Wake Forest twins. I want this team to win it all this year and also have the depth from our drafts to make a dynasty. Dynasty? Yes...that's what I'm talking about...too tired of watching them fall short for +30 years. Love them Saints!

Re: How About the 2009 Draft?
We have to count Shockey and Vilma in this year's draft since our picks went to get them. IMO, this make the 2009 draft a B+ so far. No, we don't have a Percy Harvin or Patrick Willis or Sed Ellis from it, but let's face it, the four guys we have on our team as a result of the draft have paid HUGE dividends.
Just think, we could have Mark Simineau and Mark Campbell out there. |

Re: How About the 2009 Draft?
No kidding, dude...didn't think about Vilma and Shockey (slap me around a bit for that oversight). Great point! B+ is a really good grade for the FO, considering they were way more ahead of me in that department. Good thing I'm not in charge, huh? Still loving the way this 8-0 team has incorporated their picks with Jenkins and Morestead. I'm leading the way with Morestead for HOF...can't wait to get my Morestead jersey finally.
