Geez, we aren't that good!
We have a great and very special football team. Yes, the injuries are piling up but to me that does not matter as much as other things ...
Payton did a good job of establishing the running game. But that second interception by Brees came on a play where we threw the ball out of a 5-WR set on 2nd and 10. I personally do not like the 5-WR set for us, especially in this situation: we are not a college team running the spread with a very mobile QB. Put Reggie or Thomas back there and make the defense look in at the run. It blew my mind when we went for it on 4th and 2 and turned down the 48 yard FG opportunity - in a dome nonetheless. Come on man, this isn't Tecmo Bowl! If Carney can kick field goals over 40, then let him kick. If he can't, cut him and pick up a kicker with a leg, there are plenty out there. We left 3 points off the board, possibly 6, because we didn't kick field goals - and the Rams had me scared driving at the end and only down 5! Lucky that this did not bite us. Not going to agree with all the playcalls, and hindsight is 20-20. We all frown on the reverses, but they worked today! Just would like to see us play within our means, especially in the kicking game and not abandon it. I am stoked that we won the game, but these are pretty significant gaffes. |

I agree with you ... I think the fans in us are just pretty excited to be 9-0, so we are overlooking some pretty significant things that more than likely will bite us in the near future.
I love this team --- I mean LOVE THEM, but I'm beginning to doubt that this year is a special as we are trying to make it. Agreed 9-0 is special, but really special (and how I think 99.9% of everyone on this board thinks of when they say 'special') means SB bound ... At this point, I'm not sure about that playing as sloppy as we are. I hope I'm wrong ... |

Luckily Belichick is getting hammered for going for it on 4th and 2 today and not Payton. Would be nice to have Gostowski. Yesterday made me miss Morten and Doug Brien. Wonder how Hartley is doing?

Re: Geez, we aren't that good!
With the amount of injuries to the secondary we were fortunate to squeak this one out. Although even the stellar teams like The Colts have the close call games and find a way to win in the end. Also when you are undefeated even bad teams rise and try to knock you off. I do notice that we have a tough time with the power running backs like Tucker and Steven Jackson. There are no easy games at this stage of the game each one will be a new struggle. But QBrees9 is right home field advantage for the play-offs is the most important issue.

9-0 is Sweet. I don't think I've ever been happier as a Saints fan. The team has really stumbled lately, but fortunately we haven't played anyone in the last three weeks that could be called competitive. If we had played like this earlier in the season against better opponents we might not be 9-0. Let's hope that the ball keeps bouncing our way and our injured players get well soon.

I'm tired of being "THAT" team and would much rather be "THIS" team taking advantage of "THAT" team. I agree that we do need to clean some things up and I do believe we will, but what a luxury to be 9-0 and to be looking to improve! Being a Saints fan for many years, I always want them to win...this is the first year I expect them to win. Even the Saints players in post game interviews exhibit the same confidence that they expect to win...that's a good thing, but.16 - 0 would be great, but a SB win would be even better(don't want to be the "Pats"). I don't hope for it or want it...but can't help but think that a loss in the regular season might help this team focus better when getting to the post season...I didn't like saying it and you didn't like hearing it...but a little slice of "humble pie" can go a long way at this point. IMHO

Re: Geez, we aren't that good!
I think most good teams that win a SB has had a tough stretch.
I heard the '85 Bears struggled against some lowly foes. The Key is to get healthy and get back to the 1st qtr of the year Saints by the last couple games and into the playoffs. LETS GO!!!!!! 9-0!!!!! |

Look every team is gunning for you when your undefeated. Any team that ends the season with one win would love nothing more than to hand an undefeated team their first lost. Get use to it.
On the good side the saints are deep enough to sit some players and still win. Now that is a new twist I love. |

Re: Geez, we aren't that good!
We will be fine, i just know this. The player's & coach's know that if there's ever a time 2 go the distance, it's NOW. So i know between Payton & William's that there NOT gonna sit back & let the team implode...
If William's tell's Payton he want's or needs 2 get him another CB 2 take over & play 4 Porter till gets back, then Payton will go get him one & if there's one out there that i KNOW is a perfect fit 2 jump right, it's (Chris Mcallister). William's know's Mcallister very well & they used to do off season workout's with some other player's for several year's. We will just have 2 see wut happen's. The good new's is that Sharper, Greer & Ellis will be back within the next week or two, but deffinetly by the NE game. So we're fine & they are gonna be ready, I have NO DOUBT'S about it at all... Everyone pick ya heads up & try 2 relaxe, it's hard, i know, lol, but they know they have far too much going 4 them, so there NOT gonna let the rug get pulled out from under them!!! ~~GEAUX SAINT'S~~ Us fan's are proud of yall, keep it up!!! |
