Will most likely tell the story, (which I have witheld until they had a chance to respond) along with their explanation & action plan.

Perhaps it is all a big misunderstanding? We will see. I am open minded,
and am sure you are also.

Thanks for your patience.

OK, that afternoon has come and gone ......is the verdict noted in B&G somewhere and I have just missed it?

Oh...and on another topic, I will be in Baton Rouge next SAT. Anyone able to recommend the best "watch place" to catch the Saints game?

:drink:
Has to be kid friendly though.

Re: Incident at Woodrow's Yesterday

Kellye, you and Drew are NOT bad gris gris. Please come tomorrow!

Sorry, yall, DJ business is keeping me very busy right now.

Ok, Woodrow's will be the place tomorow, Hou-Dats.

The mgmt. themselves will address us as a group, and I believe they might
be wanting to express how much they appreciate our business, and that they will be taking steps to improve their service & atmoshphere. I say lets hear them out, and be cool. Afterward, we can discuss amongst ourselves, if we still have reservations.

And now I can tell the story. Please read the whole thing, before you jump to anything:

Last Sunday, as the Saints were going to OT, the tv screens suddenly all went to a menu, which showed "Cowboys/Giants," and then sure enough, the beginning of the Cowboys game came on. A number of us began shouting, "Hey," but since we're always shouting in there anyway, it seemed to go unnoticed. Then some of us began pointing, gesturing, etc, but the staff did not seem to react with the urgency we were feeling. So then, of course the noise, gesturing, shouting, table beating, etc. escalated, as we began changing, "We Want The Saints!" So the manager in charge walked around the bar, to change the channels back, but as patrons continued shouting, he raised a double handed "bird," seemingly at the crowd. (see explanation below, please)

Well, fortunately, we got our game back, and of course the WIN sweetened it, but a number of us were outraged, and spoke to each other afterward. Apparently the management received a number of emails or calls, myself included in the communication on Monday. By mid-day Monday I had received both an explanation and a large apology from the manager involved.

Apparently his gesture was directed at a fellow employee, not the crowd, as it appeared, according to his email, but he admitted it was a poor decision, and understood our outrage.

The manager involved will be addressing us before the game tomorrow. Even if you might feel skeptical toward his explanation, or if you believe this could be a business oriented decision, I believe he is doing an outstanding job of handling this so far. I admire someone willing to stand up in front of a group, admit wrong, and spell out an action plan, which is what I believe we will hear tomorrow. I like what he is doing from both a character, and a business standpoint.

Pending a good word from Woodrows, I will likely recommend that we continue our good relationship.

You may disagree with me, and please tell me so tomorrow, if you do. My thinking is, no animals were harmed, plus I am envisioning an upgrade of
service, and a bit more appreciation, which I think we will enjoy. I say, lets hear them out.

Also, I would hope we dont turn it into a grievance session. If there is a change you would like to see, and a number of us agree on it, I believe we
could, through some newly created channels, be granted a wish or two, if we do so tactfully. Let's talk amongst ourselves, and then go back to them, if we have further opportunities.

I have a bit of experience working with the public, (not that I had any patience) so I can understand their viewpoint, as well as budget constraints. My wish is that we receive the appreciation good customers deserve, but also that we in turn treat their staff with courtesy. I am willing to give, and hopefully you are also.

Be sure and join us tomorrow, and help strenghten our voice, but mostly just come to hang out with other folks who love the Saints, New Orleans, and Louisiana.

GEAUX!

i'll be offline the rest of the weekend. if you need me, PM SuperDome, Sandlin, RaginCajun83, or Primadox, as they can all reach me.

Re: Incident at Woodrow's Yesterday

As I said earlier, the thread was directed at those who were there, or are part of our group.

And while the story lacks porn-appeal, explosions, or car chases, what it does mark is the fact that the Saints have a very large following in another city which already has an NFL team. It shows that we can hang together and have a bigger voice, and that somewhere in our town, is a place that stands to benefit greatly from doing a little homework and taking care of us. I wish suits at Academy & some other clueless Houston businesses would read some newspapers, or do some research. We're just sitting here with money in our pockets, burning holes, until somebody sells us some Saints stuff.

It should excite you that enough people 300 miles away care enough about your team to raise 3 kinds of hell, when the channel is changed to a Texas team in a Texas bar.

I meet a New Orleans native at every gig I work here. Every gig, every time. If you love the Saints, and you're here, for whatever reason, you have a home with us. --wherever we elect to gather.

This thread truly sucks.

A few Cowboys fans and a couple fingers WILL NOT stand in our way.

I have had great service at Woodrow's including from waitresses wearing Cowboys gear. If you can't charm a Cowboys fan into loving the black and gold you ain't a Saints diehard.

Don't get mad...get 'em pregnant or drunk. It's a Louisiana thing.

and we have work to do in Shreveport.

--- problem fixed, just as described above. They did the smart thing. We spend lots of money there. I just wanted us treated with
respect. We could not fit another person in the bar yesterday, so way to represent, everybody.

feel free to add any negative comments you like, as it will only bump up
the thread.

Hi Mike,

I'm glad you are standing tall for the HouDats but you didn't need to stretch two fingers into 9 pages.

I was expecting an exciting tale of women wronged, children scarred for life, men locked in mortal combat after nine pages.

If I had been at Woodrow's during the aforementioned incident I would have been vocal. I yell every time they accidentally bring the guide up on the screen.

So while I am proud of your fine stand for the rights and dignity of our brother HouDats, I am somewhat disappointed in the nine pages of mounting suspense only to get two fingers and a story about some Woodrow's employee signaling system where two fingers means "Please change the channel back to the Saints game before I lose several important body parts in this impending riot"

See y'all Saturday nite.

I agree, but in their defense, it was so crowded, it is physically difficult for them to pass through. One thing when we're talking about service. Cleavage is less important to me than a smile. When we did get service, it was friendly and helpful.
Keep in mind, I spent several years in a produce dept, so I know what its like dealing with *****ing customers--- I never want to be like that. I hate people that ***** out the help and write nasty letters. But... sometimes....

Well, Gumbeau, this thread has encompassed a normal pattern of conversation, ranging from now banned breasts on my avatar, to "mojo-man," the homeless Saints fan, to John Mecom trivia, and Houston landmarks, "should I stay or should I go"--fans who think they've hexed us
by their mere presence, and just normal greetings among us---that's how it got to nine pages. I'll never cry "threadjack," or any of the other stuff
I heard on my old board. Its just normal conversation, dude.

I had a number of friends say, **** this place, we'll go somewhere else next week, including some who have been unhappy with the service for some time. If you'll re-read thru, I believe several times I asked my friends to be calm, and wait and lets see what happens. I like what we do, and I wouldnt want to change it, without good reason-- and that was
the purpose of my posting. We use this board for communication sometimes.

Bottom line, if I give someone 30-40-50 dollars, and I encourage a bunch of other friends to join me & do the same, every other week, I will not be told to **** off by the person I am paying. Is that asking too much?

I would apologize for the lack of entertainment value here, but it would be insincere. I'll try to use more cats, breasts, and car chases next time.

However, as many know my diplomatic nature, I would be glad to spice it up a little just to say thanks for your time. How about later today, if I get time, I'll re-post my lost, famous Condom Story? (We lost it in the crash a few months ago)

cool? alright.

Just in time for the holidays, who would like a nice Condom Story?
