Vikings are the 16-0 season's best friend
With the Vikings still winning, I think that they will be the extra motivation that we need to finish 16-0.
I don't see the Vikings losing again unless it is the Giants - if they (NYG) still have something to play for in Week 17... That makes it simple for the Saints. Win the next two at home and stay in the Superdome for the playoffs. And at 15-0, why WOULDN'T you want to finish the regular season undefeated??? |

Answer: Injury risk against a very physical running team with nothing to lose. And a road game to boot.

I still bet SP goes hammer down. The players have already indicated that they want to go for it.
Best case scenario would be that we can pull starters in the 3rd / 4th quarter of the last two games... |

Re: Vikings are the 16-0 season's best friend
Who cares what the players want. I want a Super Bowl. You don't let the inmates run the asylum. That's the reason the team has upper management. Would 16-0 be great? Of course. In the grand scheme would I rather have a Super Bowl and not risk injuring players in a meaningless game. Damn right.

Re: Vikings are the 16-0 season's best friend
The Giants lost two key players to injury against the Patriots in a meaningless regular-season finale in 2007 and still won the Super Bowl.
Payton can't be stupid in the last game of the regular season, but it's never a good idea to mail it in. Being the first 19-0 team in NFL history absolutely means something. |

Big picture man. Big picture. Do you want to look back and remember the Superbowless season of 16-0 season that went horribly wrong because Julius Peppers decks Brees in the final minutes of a meaningless game, or do you want that Lombardi trophy in a trophy case in the Superdome?

Every year someone wins a SB but not every year you finish 16-0. We have won and continue to win with injuries. You play every game to win if you sit players they get cold and not battle ready. Late 4th qtr sure sent them if we are going to win but... you go 16-0

Re: Vikings are the 16-0 season's best friend
I say these players get paid to play. You play the game to win. Injuries may or may not happen and resting everyone doesn't guarantee a win. If you jump on an opposing team and have a sizable lead in the 3rd then take your starters out. If we sit everyone out and lose the last game, then lose our first playoff game then what? Let them play and the chips fall where they may.

Re: Vikings are the 16-0 season's best friend
Keep the starters in until the game is decided and try to win. It's not all about 16-0, it's about giving no quarter and never conceding, whether its the Bucs or the Colts. That sends a message and sets an winning attitude.
