If we HAD to lose...

I guess this was the game to do it. We couldn't be the 1st team to lose to Detroit! A loss to Philly or the Jets would have been too early in the season & would have killed momentum. A loss to the Bucs, Redskins, or Rams would have had everybody (including our own players) wondering if we were for real. A lost to the Pats or Giants would have everybody (including our own players) wondering if we could match up against the better teams. A loss to the Dolphins takes away our best road win & best come from behind victory. & I don't think any of us would trade a Falcons or Panthers win for a two losses! The main down side here is we gotta hear cowgirls mouths Trust me, I hate them too, but they will be little more than a minor annoyance come playoff time.

Yes, yes, I know. But let's not all of a sudden act like we hate the Cowboys more than the Falcons & Panthers! This is their 1st time beating us in 6 tries, & they are NO threat in the playoffs. I mean, really, what reason do we have to hate them other than their ultra annoying fans? Last time the cowboys won anything, it was Emit Smith on Dancing with the Stars! True, after the Superbowl, their fans will say "ya'll still can't beat us" but they were gonna say that anyway! :^/

This was a chance to close the door on these chumps..and we played our worst game of the year...but i will give them credit they came to play..and Bushrod and Jenkins seemed to help their cause...Still all in all it was a team loss...

Re: If we HAD to lose...

In a perfect world, the Miami game was the one to have the comeback fall short on, not this one.

It was a non-conference game, and this one was on a much bigger stage and was a conference game. And it was the Cowboys.

I would have switched out the Miami comeback for this one in a heartbeat.

But hey, we're 13-1 with a division title and a first round bye, so how loudly can I complain?

Re: If we HAD to lose...

I think an earlier loss, and one that was on the road (like cargojon said, maybe the Miami game) would have been better.

Earlier would have been better b/c it would have taken some of the "perfect season" pressure off, allowing us to really enjoy what has been a fantastic season and we wouldn't have to listen to Cowboys fans, who are in the top five most annoying fan bases in the NFL.

Plus I wish it had been a road game so the team would still have a lot of confidence in the Dome, b/c we will hopefully have homefield advantage in the playoffs.

i never want to lose to the cowboys......the best loss would've been in week 17 when we were resting our starters for the playoffs

Re: If we HAD to lose...

But fellas, don't forget, the Dolphins come back was the 1st in a string of several. So take that away, maybe you take our confidence when down two scores. Plus, the Superbowl is in Dolphins Stadium. We need confidence on that field too. But maybe I'm bias because I live in Miami so I would have had to hear jeers. But I still think it was more important to lock everything up (including confidence) early in the season & drop a lazy late one.

I'm not as concerned about this single loss as I am about the overall play of the team in past few weeks. Especially after watching the replay of Washington.

Good points about the confidence b/c of that being the first big come from behind and the Superbowl location.

I still think an earlier loss and a road loss would have been better. Earlier so confidence could be at a high level going into the playoffs. St. Louis or Tampa would have been embarassing b/c they are so bad, but then we could have thought we kind of looked ahead.

Tough to pick one out, b/c they are all important.
