I love this move. This means Carney is still part of the team, I really hated for him to be released after all he has done this year. This guy bailed the Saints out of a nasty situation early in the season, and really did a nice job kicking. To me it looked like he wore down as the season went on, so it did make sense for Hartley to resume duties.

Re: Carney resigned...
I had a feeling this would happen when they made the announcement. Every time Payton talks about Carney you tell how much respect he has for the guys professionalism.

Re: Carney signed as Kicking Consultant
Glad to hear it...and I'm betting that this is insurance that Carney doesn't kick the game winner for Dallas in the playoffs...

Re: Carney signed as Kicking Consultant
thats exactly why they held him the week of the game ,because how bad would that look to see carney kicking against us in the dallas game,it would have been a bullet in payton's heart, and the whole team. i smelled a rat when i saw carney on side lines in earthware

Re: Carney signed as Kicking Consultant
Brees and Carney go back to the Chargers days. They seem to be really close, on and off the field. I like the idea of having Carney still with the team. He's been a soldier for us for years, and he's won us more than he's lost us. I like the move, for whatever reason.
