Re: Carney resigned...

So one Day GH and Carney are battling, the next JC is his coach? I mean consultant.
Can we hire a pass rush consultant now? Maybe Jumpy?

Re: Carney resigned...

2 things I can figure is that we have some trick plays in our FG kicking that Paytong doesn't want to give up.

The other is there a potential play off team in need of a kicker?

I think you nailed it with the latter but don't overlook the trick play either.

.. or maybe this is a way for SP to keep a quality individual with the team and at the same time help his young kicker.

I had a feeling this would happen when they made the announcement. Every time Payton talks about Carney you tell how much respect he has for the guys professionalism.

Re: Carney resigned...

This could be a nice move. At least we know Carney won't be beating us on a last second field goal in the playoffs.

Re: Carney resigned...

I love this move. This means Carney is still part of the team, I really hated for him to be released after all he has done this year. This guy bailed the Saints out of a nasty situation early in the season, and really did a nice job kicking. To me it looked like he wore down as the season went on, so it did make sense for Hartley to resume duties.
