Why, because you expect your team to be unable to stop a punt return, are ya kidding me?

I would have went for it, but this is the players fault THEY FAILED TO DO THEIR JOB

No, I am not mad at you BDUB

Nervous times for SP. Only 1 of 2 ways to go.

Pull this team back to where it was at the Pats game and make an impression in the playoffs

OR

Flunk, and we get the age old label back and SP is in real trouble because
the only way out is a stunning playoff run regardless of the regular season record.

I think Payton made the right call punting on 4th and 1. Morestead was punting awesome all day up until that punt and the return for TD.

I have more of a problem with offensive playcalling - Saints mixed the run/pass well, but need to get more creative. Never seemed to catch the Bucs off guard.

Agree with you wholeheartedly neugey, especially on the one that got returned for a touchdown. We were deep in our own territory, and it was a good decision. Simple fact is, we have to be able to cover a freakin punt. Special teams was a big part of why we lost that game. I don't blame Payton for the decisions to punt at all. If this team had taken care of their assignments, nobody would have said anything about the decisions to punt.

On the flip side, if we had gone for it on 4th and 1, and not gotten it, I'm sure a lot of you guys would be on here blaming Sean for making a stupid play call. Point is, he made the absolute right call in the situation.

I do think that Sean deserves some blame for the playcalling in the second half in terms of sticking to the running game. I believe that we only ran the ball 10 times in the second half. We need to stay committed to the running game, and the offensive line needs to pick it up big-time.

Re: I blame it on Sean

4th down is the down designated to kick the ball

whether it be punting or field goal attempts......4th down is designed for the offensive team to win either the field position battle or to score 3 points

in the NFL it is stupid to assume that 1 yard is so easy to get.....especially when you see teams go entire games without scoring any points......if yards were so easy to come by then teams would go for it on 4th down nearly every opportunity they have.....but the reason they punt is because they know that they will have another chance and they will have to capitalize on it or battle for field position yet again

its not a punishment to punt the ball......its a reward to the defense for the team having such a bad showing on offense

"deal with it or you can go play the saints and get trounced by 30 and you won't have to worry about it."-colin cowherd
