He is a better owner than most if Hartley stays on the team. Personally, I would have brought my GM into my office this morning and instructed him to buy Hartley tickets out of NOLA. With the stipulation that he never return.

Hmm, maybe I'm just bitter

Everyone here was screaming to get rid of Carney and put Hartley in. I really didn't understand the arguments either way but there you go! Mr.Benson was celebrating but realized it was no good, it took his wife a little longer and the look on her face was disheartening.

Red face Re: Benson makes yahoo frontpage

I remember back in '05 when the Giants played the Seahawks, their kicker at the time, Jay Feely, had kicked and missed a field goal. On the sidelines you saw Michael Strahan and future Saint Jeremy Shockey celebrating. Then, when the tone of the crowd shifted, they turn around and realized that Feely missed it and found themselves in one of those "Double-U-Tee-Eff" Moments.

"YEA, WE WON!! WE WON!!....."

"...WHAT THE...?" "What's the matter?" "That idiot kicker from Southlake Carroll missed, dagnabbit!! GET MORTON ANDERSEN ON SPEED-DIAL!!"

Not really sure why there's so much attention to this.

Saints celebration checklist. Senior citizens, or persons who've had more than 3 drinks, cannot be expected to remember or go through all of this -
  • Has the ref's whistle blown?
  • Has the official given the proper signal?
  • Where is the football? Which player, if any, has the football?
  • Are the other refs running over to the signaling official to make a correction?
  • Is there a yellow flag on the field?
  • Are any of the refs reaching for their flag?
  • Are fans or players lobbying with the ref for a flag?
  • Has the ref appeared to make up his mind?
  • Are the officials in a huddle?
  • Is the play reviewable?
  • Does the team who could challenge the play have any challenges remaining?
  • Is there a red flag on the field?
  • Is the coach reaching for his red flag?
  • Can the booth review the play?
  • Was there time left on the clock when the play started?
  • Does it appear there may have been a mistake in the clock start/stop operation before/during/after the play occurred?
  • Did a player or coach call timeout before the play began but it was noticed before the snap?
  • Did the player get hit out of bounds?
  • Are the opposing players fighting or about to become hostile with each other?
  • Is your team behind by one point and awaiting the result of a presumably automatic extra point?
