His job pays what it pays, thats the market--and until we all boycott football, they're gonna make those checks. I think their salaries are ridiculous too, but it doesnt pre-empt their humanity. Tiger Woods is human. I like him better knowing he is. Kids in India making shoes for Nike think Firemen are overpaid, but no one stands outside burning buildings waiting to boo the firemen when they are unable to save somebody. "What do you mean you couldnt take the heat from that fire, you make ___ dollars!" "Boo, you &%$#!@ suck!" We should do this to doctors and lawyers. I never saw Grant say he thinks he's more important than you or me. Every time Charles Grant lines up, a very large, talented, possibly angry man is lined up against him, and probably hits him in the privates whenever possible. Im guessing he tries hard on every play. I saw him in Mississippi, and he sure does sweat a lot. Just my observation. But you know, I want the same things you want, and for the same people. I want the Saints to win for your grandfather, for Archie, for my friend who lost his house in Katrina, for the poor lady who sells pralines on LaSalle, for people in Shreveport who love the Saints and hear crap from Cowboy fans, for every little kid who got their heart broken following them, for the awesome people in MS who sat in the heat at TC, and the list goes on... I want us all to have a great celebration. This is my goal. Im just not sure yelling blasphemies at the guys we're supposed to be rooting for is gonna help us reach that goal. Thats what the coaches are for. But I support your right to boo, or yell "you suck" if you want to. We have been supporting the franchise for years, indeed, but bear in mind, most of these guys werent born when we 1st started watching the Saints. They're basically kids. ...and they're somebody's baby. Money doesnt change that. |

LOL
I HAVEN'T HEARD THAT IN A LONG LONG TIME!!! Personally I never boo. I just love my teams one way or another. I also don't do anything to people who boo. That's me, I know everyone feels different. The only time I'll actually say something is when the athletes are amateurs, which means up to College, and I'll say something to people who boo kids and stuff. I think it sucks when people boo LSU etc. Beyond that, no opinion. I do think people yelling "bleeping bleeps" suck. We have great fans but, as with any team or city, we have our garbage!!!! Then again, I don't do anything about it. I guess I'm the devils' advocate... great discussion on all sides. |

Lack of concentration. We were so close from winning that game. They needed to lose. Hopefully they'll learn a lesson. I don't think it's out of line to boo but saying "You f@#$@ suck" is imo.

Re: Charles Grant mad at Saints fans!
I'm just curious... Have any of you ever worked in the entertainment business? I reallize this is a sporting event, but the NFL is essentially a form of entertainment. The reason I ask is, have you ever went to see a band, and the sucked? How many boos did you hear in the audience? From people that couldn't play a guitar if they tried, or sing, or play drums, or any other musical instrument, other than a kazoo.
Saw a terrible comedian, an awful play, or movie? Was anyone booing, or yelling stuff then? My point is, that I'll bet that no one here, downing the people that did this stuff, hasn't done one of these things, at some point in their life. I am a huge Nicholas Cage fan. I am also a huge marvel comics fan. So when I went and shelled out the cash at the theater, to see Ghostrider, you can imagine what I was saying while I was walking out. If Mr. Cage had been there, I would have probably called him a few names myself! That doesn't mean, that I am going to stop watching his movies, because of that one immense turd of a movie. And I don't remember him coming out crying about how everyone thought it sucked. I'm sure someone is going to say that these two things have nothing to do with each other, but if you really look at it, they are exactly the same. And I have been booed before, and called names, because I've been a musician all my life. Did I stop doing it, because people didn't like it? No. But on the flip side of the coin here, if I didn't like people's abuse, because they didn't like what I did on stage, I also had the option to quit. Right? |

Dumbass: "When are you gonna play something good?" Me: (thinking, "Wow, well now I'm motivated to do something for you, a$$hole.") (but saying ![]() Dumbass: "Duh, I dont know, just something good." Me: "No no, I need an artist and a title." What can I play for the crowd that everyone will enjoy as much as you?" Dumbass: "Uhhhh... I cant think of anything... just play something..." Me: "So give me a genre, what kind of song would we all like to hear?" (cuz, obviously, youre an expert) Dumbass: "ooooh... um? play... S&ck My **** Motha****** B**** by Babydaddy & tha Felons" Me: "I dont think the bride's grandma will like that." Dumbass: "Oh yeah." Me: "Try again." Dumbass: "How bout Freebird?" Me: "um, o... k... so whats your name?" Dumbass: "huh?" Me: "name." Dumbass: "Skeeter" Me: (on mic) "Ok, everyone Skeeter says you all want to hear Freebird." Crowd: "Booooooooooo!" Dumbass: "Oh, ok, just play whatever you think will work." Me: "Thats why Im the DJ." (I dont come to McDonalds and tell you how to make fries.) Dont come to me saying, "Play something good," like a douchebag. Ask for a song, and I'll do it--- but be prepared to put your name on it. ok, that story was free. Back to the point. If you shout crap at the players, dont cry about their lack of "loyalty" when they sign with another team, and then come back and kick our a$$. Dont get mad when they say, well this is business. Yep. There's a reason the Manning kids didnt want to play in New Orleans. Archie saw the way some of us treated Hebert--- a local guy who bled black and gold, who shed blood on the field, but was occasionally--- human. I was disappointed in some of the stuff I heard from the stands. Honestly, if it were me, I would have done a stronger gesture than "airplane arms." (In reality, he was directing that at Saints management, not us.) Nor do I blame Michael Vick for flipping off the fans who shouted stuff at him. Dont misunderstand me. We are the greatest fans in Football. Collectively, we are the greatest fans in all of Sports. The majority of the Dome is great people, just like most of my crowd rocks, as do 98% of my brides--- who are complete DOLLS. Its just that some of us insist on acting like monkeys. That is why there will always be a fence between us and them. Thats why you cant come in my booth. |

I almost got into a fight at work last friday night, because an eminem reject came up complaining that I wasn't playing enough "hip hop". Even though, I had been playing rap about 90% of the night, that still wasn't enough. The this 19 year old kid, proceeded to tell me, how bad I "suck", even though I've been doing this job since 1995.![]()
This is not the first time I've had an incident like this, not even the twentieth! And that's not counting my band experiences. I've been in entertainment all my working life, so booing, objects thrown, curse words, name calling, I've had it all thrown my way. And you are right, they can't complain when these players have no loyalty. It's all part of the business side of things. But like I said, I can't complain either. These monkeys have paid my bills for the past 15 years! |

You know back on SR, there's a guy called JoeOKC, whos a strip club DJ. I tried to get him to come to houston and do traffic with me. Funny, but I have 25+ yrs of radio, but could not get hired by a strip bar -- radio delivery isnt compatable---weird, huh? I'm one of the few guys who likes weddings. I dont do schools, house party's, etc. & too old for clubs-- havent listened to music since '94--I know that sounds crazy. I have current songs, and play them, but nostalgia sells in my biz---and not just cheesy stuff. (I dont play YMCA, unless you ask for it.) It works--- Im H-town's most requested wedding guy. So you're at DeJa Vu in SF. Cool, I have cousins in the Bay Area. I'll send em your way. You have my support & praise too, brother. I've had hecklers, crashers, fighting mothers, broken bones, FIRES, and one place a knife thrown at me. I cant imagine doing anything else on Sat night. If you ever need to move, theres tons of work in Houston. |
