this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Colston loses concentration sometimes and drops ball he should catch. Overall they're young and each is a playmaker in their own right....

Re: WRs good or what?
Were set at wide reciever..now backup QB is another story...I would like to see Chad Pennington come in...he has a noodle for an arm.. but smart and a good game manager..I think he would fit well in this system..

Re: WRs good or what?
If we go hurry up, which we should do every time we have the ball unless we're up by 21, we will need someone like Moore back in the mix because we run at least one go/deep pattern every pass play and that wears those guys out. Meachem, Colston, Henderson aren't enough. Moore and healthy TE's are necessary.
If Moore can't return, we should be looking for additional help. Does Roby actually play WR? |

Re: WRs good or what?
I think solid would be the best word to describe our WR's. Is it just me or does it look like Colston can't break a tackle to save his life? Considering how big he is, it seems that with any contact he goes down.

Re: WRs good or what?
Good to very good. Too many mental mistakes in key situations to be considered elite. Obviously Brees makes them that much better, but a possession type like Moore was sorely missed, especially in the second half of the season. Shock and other TEs also need to step it up.

Re: WRs good or what?
There's never an excuse for a pro football player to drop a ball that hits his hands, but its somewhat awkward to catch a ball that's spinning the opposite way. Brunell's a lefty. No excuse, but still could explain 1 or 2 of the weird drops.
Still, Brunell wasn't splitting hairs out there with his accuracy haha, leaving people out to get smoked by Jon Beason. Did anyone notice how HORRIBLE the announcers were?? I wanted to beat Billick over the head with his "route tree". They incessantly had to tell us how physically dominating the Panthers were to our backups. Annoying much? |

Re: WRs good or what?
fwiw.....on a completely different note......one of the mock drafts i was checking out has us drafting mardy gilyard from cincy
id be pretty excited to get him because he is a WR built like reggie and if the rumors of our marriage with reggie ending are true, then we need to find someone to replace him gilyard was easily the best player on cincinatti despite the major hype surrounding tony pike pike's only hope was to hit gilyard in stride and watch him go.....without gilyard, pike would've been benched in favor of collaras.......if we dont go with a defensive player i would be 100% behind us picking up mardy gilyard Mardy Gilyard*|*Cincinnati,*WR*:*2010 NFL Draft Scout Player Profile |

Re: WRs good or what?
i thought brunell was late getting the ball out, and under threw a lot of deeper passes. meachem could've had a big day. as a group i think our wr's are very good, and am comfortable with meachem or roby playing in place of moore.
