WRs good or what?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I'd be all over the drafting of Gilyard only if he was BPA. This team needs more help on defense and this draft should be used to give GW more toys to work with on that side of the ball. ...

As for WRs, collectively I would have to place the Saints close to elite status. Individually, very good to excellent. Top 4 WRs are all starting material. Not to mention 2 quality starters at TE, and a very nice group of running backs who do a nice job catching passes.
Please God not Jake. Steve Smith bailing him out over and over is the only reason he lasted as long as he did. We be better off bailing Ryan Leaf outta jail. Just say NO to Jake...

I have to agree and hope a draft pick is used for some good Defensive backs. Lets put McKenzie back on the street. He either shines or sh1ts. No consistency.

i think one of the issues here is that the past few games, our offense hasnt been able to put up the points we were at the beginning of the season

10?
17?
17?

those are our last 3 games

up to that point in the season our lowest scoring output was 26 points

if we would've scored 26 points in any of those 3 games we would've won them

our offense is stagnant right now and adding a young spark would be huge

gilyard is a percy harvin type of player without the height....he is very steve smith esque with his crisp route running and his crazy speed and athleticism

if he is available to us in the second round i would love to pick him up......a WR, TE, or RB wouldnt hurt in this draft and an offensive linemen is always the right decision

Re: WRs good or what?

I agree with you that the Offense has gone a little cold. However those scores have been victories by other teams this season. Other teams win games scoring 10-14 points per game because their defense can stop the run and pass. Our ability to out score other teams took the focus off of the Defenses inability to stop the run.

If we shut the run down. Force them into the air Sharper ends the season with 4-5 more interceptions.

A strong D that keeps opponents to 10 points or less makes all but one of those losses a win.

Re: WRs good or what?

Our group is as good as any in the league. We have size, speed, quickness and pretty good hands throughout the bunch. They get the blues sometimes but that's a part of the struggle to keep your game at a high level once you make it to the highest level. We do need a gooood backup QB though...Man! I thought Brunell had a better pea-shooter than that. He was borderline awful. Let's hope Brunell was just playing possom in order to fool our playoff opponents. He did a good job - fooled me too.

Re: WRs good or what?

I'd say that our wide receivers are good to very good. Once again, I have to thank our receivers coach Curtis Johnson. As far as a backup QB I'd like to see us go after Kolb, he was really good in the Philly game. If not Pennington was coming on before each of his injuries. And as far as Drafting defense goes the only way I would draft offense is if a fine O lineman became available. We would have stayed consistent longer with a better O line.
