I hate how the media portrays teams.

The Media: The Saints have no chance, because no team has ever won the superbowl after entering the playoffs on a 3 game losing streak.

The Media is essentially, trying to find trends in every possible phase. This isn't a bad strategy, its not..... its what the media does, and its what they get paid for. The problem is that they tend to look into things too damn closely without looking at the big picture. The Saints have never won a Superbowl, so I guess they can knock at two "trends" at once. You could also say that no team has ever won a Superbowl with black uniforms on(I dunno if this is true). They can regurgitate these stats every way they want, and try to convince themselves of something. Of course momentum is a big thing heading into the playoffs, but I fail to see how losing three games in a row completely translates to momentum. It's almost as if they have taken the players out of the equations, and reduced them to mere stick figures.

Yep, and prior to 2005-6 no team had ever won three road games and went to and won the Super Bowl. Then the Steelers happened.

There's a first time for everything. Ask the Cards...

The media will be loving us real soon. If the Saints make it deep in the playoffs everyone will be on board again.

Much agreed. They put way too much stock into Momentum. There isn't much momentum carried between games, especially when played a week or more apart. Confidence may get carried from game to game, but all it takes is a kick return TD or a pick-6 to flush that confidence right down the toilet.

I love ESPN's rankings this week.

We drop two spots by resting our starters, the Colts stay at #1. We are now #5.

Personally I was hoping that we would be #12. After all, the sports media has us DOA in the playoffs...

Also, the NFL had never had a Super Bowl winning team with a black head coach until Dungy did it with the Colts. It was going to happen either way since Lovie Smith was on the other sideline. Two black coaches have won Super Bowls in the last three years. I don't know if this is even relevant to the discussion, but I know it was all over the media in '06.

as a magic fan...i'll run another statistic by you. before last year, the celtis were 32-0 when leading a 7-game series 3-2. now, they're 32-1!

bottomline, these records will be broken. its only a matter of time. this is our time!
