Offense or Defense First?
Say we win the opening coin toss. Should we take the ball or defer? I personally always like it when our D in on the field first. If for no other reason than our O seems to be a better 2nd half group. Whattcha think?

Re: Offense or Defense First?
It's a matter of principle. The Saints have the kick-ass offense and they should make the statement. Period.
If they had an incredible defense like back in the early '90's and won games 13-10 a lot then it should be defense first. Lead with your best unit and take control of the game at the beginning. Never let go, that's my thinking. |

To quote Hasselbeck "We want the ball and were going to score"

Re: Offense or Defense First?
No question. 100% offense.
granted an early stop would be a big lift, but that hasn't happened much lately |

Re: Offense or Defense First?
I say d, mainly because it gives us a chance to come out strong in the second half after adjustments are made. It's too easy to let the excitement of a playoff game rattle you and result in a dropped pass, missed block, poor throw or dumb penalty that will kill your first drive. I'd rather start the second half with the ball after the jitters have died down.

Re: Offense or Defense First?
Offense! We have to hit first, hit hard, and hit them as many times as we can. We cannot offord to let them get any momentum. We also have to get the crowd into the game right off the bat, and an early touchdown will get them going. We can't let the croud sit in the stands silently. We need them as much as any player on the field.

Re: Offense or Defense First?
I hear and understand all of the offense answers. But just remember that there is no better feeling than having more points at the end of a game. Besides that, there is no better feeling than leading going into halftime and knowing you get the ball first second half. I love that point in a game!

Re: Offense or Defense First?
I also understand both sides, that's why I never get upset about either decision. It all depends on the coaches game plan.
