Keys to winning vs. Texans

Where you see the letters SEA please insert HOU.

On Def:
DE's have to strectch the run outside or force the ball into the middle. They can't allow the rb to get around the corner.
Saints will have to stop the screen. look for this when SEA needs ydg.
Saints db's will have to make solo tackles. minimize the YAC and make SEA work for every yard.
MLB and safties will have to attack the middle of the feild and make this THEIR turf.

on O:
Left tackle will have to open up the hole for deuce. Deuce broke many long runs off the left side last year.
TE must be utilized often to make SEA play the whole field.
must have an effective screen play and use the dump off correctly to keep def on their heels
can't have the big penalties that nullify the big plays.
#! have to control the clock with time consuming drives to keep def off the field. If the saints score on quick strikes they will lose in a shoot out.

In addition the saints will have to come out of the gates scoring TD's. If the saints come out and play like crap and/or fail to get the ball in the endzone early the fans will be a huge distraction to them and I don't think the saints will have the mental capacity to overcome a demanding home crowd.

Keys to winning vs. Texans

1. Before the game Haslett must call each indivdual player aside and give them a Vince Lombardi type speech to make sure they are motivated.

2. Must make them get down in a 3-point stance and YELL -- HUT HUT HUT -- to make sure they don\'t jump offsides.

3. Make Aaron wear one of those big mouth peices that they wore in the old days. ( The one\'s that cover up his whole mouth so you can\'t see him smiling!!)

4. Go over how to properly tackle before walking on the field !!

5. Blitz enough to make the fans happy.

6. If Aaron misses more than 5 throws -- Put Bouman in for god\'s sake !!

7. Have Jimmy Johnson on the phone during the game and have him call the plays for the offense.

8. Might as well have Buddy Ryan on the other line for the defense.

If Haz does all of this and the players still screw up -- then it\'s still Haslett\'s fault and let\'s fire the chump !!

Key match-up: Saints defensive line vs. Houston Offensive line
If the Saints can\'t get a pass rush going, it will be tough. The 4 men up front won\'t get it done by themselves, they will need help by blitzes and try to surprise the Texans line. If they just play them straight up they won\'t get near Carr all day (how many sacks did Miami, a defense that ranked 4th in sacks last season, have? Exactly 0).

Other than that I reiterate what I said before the Seattle game:
* Turnovers
* Avoiding Penalties
(I like to say I told you so, so ... I TOLD YOU SO!)

Expect a tough game. Their win should serve as a wake-up call if our loss didn\'t.

Keys to winning vs. Texans

The Texans were able to beat the Dolphins because of the following reasons:

1. They used a short passing game and were very effective. ( 17 of 31 for 266 yards)

2. They were successful running the ball. ( 127 yards)

3. Defense stoped the running game. ( 22 for 86 yards)

4. Defense limited the passing game. ( 17 of 32 for 215)

5. Controlled the time clock ( 33:18 )

The Texans take a very conservitive approach with their offense and rely on their defense to keep them close and try to win in the 4th quarter.

What we need to do is get on the scoreboard quick and make them play catch-up. While Huston\'s offense is capiable of making a quick strike in the endzone -- It\'s not likely.

On defense we have to make sure we tackle the receivers. It\'s hard for any team to stop the short quick passes -- so we have to make sure we don\'t allow any YAC. Of coures we need to stop the run on defense and have NO turnovers and limit the penalties.
