this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Saints signed DT Marlon Favorite, formerly of the Seahawks. A talented underachiever (not atypical for former LSU linemen), Favorite went undrafted in 2009. He'll step in as New Orleans' No. 5 defensive tackle. Source: Jeff Duncan on Twitter...

Re: Saints Sign Former LSU Lineman.
It seems that former LSU players, always seem to get a fire under them, if they come back and play for New Orleans. Randall Gay looked really good in the game Sunday, so I say bring him on. I'm not saying he's going to be a fan "favorite". Takes more than the name for that.

Re: Saints Sign Former LSU Lineman.
I saw that same Jeff Duncan tweet late last night but it has not been announced anywhere reputable yet so it cannot be verified at this time. Perhaps Sean Payton will announce it in the after practice press conference that is scheduled to be broadcast on NFL Network today at 1:45 CT, huh?

Re: Saints Sign Former LSU Lineman.
DT is an area of need but what about our PS players? Earl Heyman to small at 6'1" 289?
Marlon Favorite - 6'1" 315 BIOGRAPHY: Part-time starter the past three seasons in the Tigers? rotational system. Senior totals included 28/3.5/2 after 28/1 as a junior. POSITIVES: Short, explosive defensive tackle who beats blockers off the ball with his quick first step. Plays with good lean, pad level, and works his hands throughout the action. Displays good body control, quickly changes direction and gives a lot of effort. Works his hands throughout the action and flashes on the scene, playing with a good degree of explosion. NEGATIVES: Does not always play to his size, and easily turned from his angle of attack by a single blocker. Shows marginal pass rushing skills. ANALYSIS: Favorite is a low-to-the ground defensive tackle with a stout build. He offers a good degree of upside potential, and his game should improve as he receives more playing time in the coming years. Favorite is worth the investment of a late-round pick as he is a prospect who could develop into a productive NFL player several years down the road. PROJECTION: Free Agent Marlon Favorite - 2009 Draft Tracker - SI.com Well we will see what Williams can make of him. |

Well the good news is if he is signed, Meachem isn't hurt bad or they would have elevated Arrington from the PS instead for the roster spot.

Also, this is good news for Meach since the DT is filling Deuce's roster spot.
