Saints Hatred?
Ok, we haven't even played in our first freaking superbowl yet, and it seems that from the media, to fans of other teams, are all completely against us all the sudden? I don't get it. What the hell have we done to anybody? This team played their freaking butts off, to get where they are, and this is the thanks they get? None of our players have anything close to an ego, personal problems, or problems with the law, but people hate them? I don't get this at all. To me, this goes to show, that the entire country is going to Hell, and they are happy as can be, to be on the ride.
Talk all you want about the team I guess, if that's all you can do, to make yourself feel better about your team losing, but leave Katrina, and the thousands of dead bodies, and destroyed homes and lives OUT OF IT. Pardon my violent nature, but when I read stuff like I have been reading lately, IT MAKES ME VIOLENTLY ANGRY. All I want to do, is start laying people out fist to face, because they are too stupid to be breathing. My entire family lives on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. My cousin lost her house, her cars, all of her possessions, and almost her life, along with her two kids. The Gulf Coast still looks like an a-bomb hit it, for the most part, so to hear people relating their hate for a football team, to this kind of catastrophe is not only infuriating, it's un called for. If these people have no better moral's, or even value for human life than this, then I can only blame their parents, for being such terrible people, that they allow their children to act this way. It's disgusting. So I say this. Hate us. I officially don't care anymore. With your "kind", I will consider it a compliment to be hated by you, and anyone like you. I wonder how many of these morons even know how many Colts players are from the Gulf Coast area, and how much suffering they went through themselves. Probably not. Most people with no class, stay that way, their entire lives. |
Re: Saints Hatred?
Cause we beat up on poor Brent Farvra!!!!!;)

Re: Saints Hatred?
They hate us because they fear us.

Re: Saints Hatred?
AND FAVRE IS FROM THAT AREA TOO! That's what don't make any damn sense! What are these idiots thinking?

Re: Saints Hatred?
There is envy; envy because a small market city has amazing support and shows what real fans are. And what true support is. They do not like that we don't know our place and we should always be lovable losers. They don' like that we stopped their ideal Superbowl. Tough old vet Brett against one of the best quarterbacks to ever play, what a matchup it would have been but DAMN.... those boys from the Bayou ruined it all. They do not like the fact that we have bounced back from a terrible disaster and are helping to rebuild. You are right, SaintPaul25. We have done nothing but get our heads down, work hard and do our best with no brash, loudmouth smack talk. But the problem is as I have said before 'We failed to know our place'
'There is no shame being born in the gutter, but it's a terrible shame to want to stay there' is a saying from a book/tv series 'Sharpe'. About a soldier who jumped from the ranks to become an officer and he was very unpopular with the other officers (this was set in 1800's when you had to be of high birth to be an officer and Sharpe was the son of a whore) We will never be an Elite team, not even if we win the next three Superbowls, because we will always be called lucky or undeserving. |
Re: Saints Hatred?
When ya hate.... you lose.
Thanks! They are helping us! They are part of the DoucheBag Nation. We are part of the Who Dat Nation. I prefer being a part of the latter. Let them wallow in their hatred. They are the cause of their own bad karma. Just say neaux to Dolts. |
Re: Saints Hatred?
Gup, that makes total sense to me. I grew up outta nothing in Stallo, Mississippi, and made it all the way to California, and still have people look down on me. That's fine. It builds better character in my opinion. I have been a Saints fan, since before most of these spoiled rotten little brats were outta dirty diapers. And regardless of what the majority of the people in this country believe, or see when they look at these Saints, they are OUR SAINTS. Underdog for life!
|
Re: Saints Hatred?
Underdogism is like spinach to popeye.
Just Say Neaux To Dolts. WHO DAT. |
Re: Saints Hatred?
I asked my boyfriend this same question. This was his answer.

Re: Saints Hatred?
its not so much the city hatred that we are getting that i dont like
mostly because i dont live in New Orleans......its the "i told you so" hate everybody always wants to tell me that they knew the saints sucked.....that they knew the saints were terrible when we lost to the cowboys.....it was "see i told you so"....."i told you they couldnt win and arent any good" completely forgetting about the 10 straight weeks of domination that had preceded that in the playoffs we torture the cardinals for 4 qtrs and get a few fans back.....then we play in one of the best championship games of all time and are back to the original fans from the beginning of the season because of either how dirty we play, how terrible our defense is, or how awful our offense played despite winning......we are still losers....until we win i tell my kids every season.....it doesnt matter how many games you win....its which games you win you can win all 10 games in the regular season and still lose in the first round of the playoffs or.....you could go 5-5 and still win the state championship..... its our time.....there isnt any sort of higher entity that is guiding this team if there ever was this season.....there isnt some sort of fate or destiny that this team has to fulfill..... this team is just better than the colts....in nearly every way |
Re: Saints Hatred?
God Bless you, Mississippi brothers and sisters. You have a lot to do with the Saints staying in New Orleans. Your training camp was off the charts. If I owned the Saints, there would be a Mississippi Appreciation day, complete with parade, meet & greet with players, and your own preseason game.

Re: Saints Hatred?
Well, I am from Indy... I am a Colts fan... and I don't hate you. Not very many of us do. We share the same small market issues you do. In fact, it seemed like to us... the whole season when the Colts and the Saints were both undefeated... all we heard about was the Saints. The Colts got no respect.
We get that. It's been like that for a decade with us. The Colts have won more games than ANYONE else, in the best division in football for the last 10 years... and we STILL get no respect. The Saints are awesome. I have said it all year. I like the Saints. I rooted for the Vikings. For one simple reason. I think they would be easier for the Colts to beat. If your guys win, I'll be happy as hell for you. These two teams are both classy, down to earth, well mannered, programs that deserve to be where they are. The fact that we're both small market teams is proof that the league has gotten what it wanted with equity, and that no longer can the unscrupulous Owners simply BUY Lombardi Trophy's. Congratulation to all you Saints fans. 9 more days... Jabba |

The things a Saints fan has to endure..

Re: Saints Hatred?
We upset the natural order of things. Of course we're going to get our fair share of hatred. Those in power want to keep power, even if they have bad ideas or bad execution.
That's why you've got a media bias towards Brett Favre, he gives the media what they want - drama and conflict on an historically important team. That's why the Cowboys got so much love in round 1 even though they really weren't very good. We're not all that interesting because most of the players on our team don't do stupid things that create drama. In reality, nobody likes the selfless act, and bad actors find ways to make those, for whom charity begins at home, into flawed and unsympathetic creatures. We celebrate the Donald for his cunning in getting bailed out of bankruptcy because he was "too big to fail," but we punish the little guy whose original restaurant "Taj Mahal" must change his name because the Donald owns it for his new casino. The only way to stop the disrespect is to squash them like a bug on the playing field, with dignity. |

Who dat got their pants on the ground? Warner? Favre? They didn't see the Saints coming and they had plenty of time for preperation. Shame on them. We smashed the natural order of WHAT THEY EXPECTED IN THEIR MINDS but the actual natural order was the Saints were the #1 seed. Oops. |

I think part of the problem is us...the fans of the Saints. We are not use to this, have not ever been here before, and don't realize that all teams go through this to some degree. There are always happy winners and sore losers...always. |

Not sure what to say. I agree to a degree with some disclaimers. |

[/QUOTE] I'm with ya man, when i heard that jackass from Seattle. That crap infuriates me. I also say to hell with anybody who is not a Saints fan and says Sh*t like that. Would love from some A** to say those things to me in person. |
Re: Saints Hatred?
I talked to a Patriots fan (an old friend) yesterday and he says that Boston is all Black and Gold. So I would guess the AFC cities love us and the NFC cities have jealous hatred.
|
Re: Saints Hatred?
All I've heard all season is a deafening silence regarding the Saints. Haven't yet encountered any real Saints Hatred, except from a few cryin' Vikes fans. It seems to me that the "silent majority" out there is cheering for the Saints, but the national media missed it's "Farve Drama Story" so it's pissed. F' em. We're in the SUPER BOWL.
|
Re: Saints Hatred?
Chalk it all up to ignorance, and keep on goin! People envy people who make it to the top, and then the hating starts. This is in all aspects of life. Very few people are gracious enough to be happy for someone, or "team", who has risen above mediocre. My husband and I were discussing this the other day. He has been very blessed in his profession and business, and his "friends" from back home with the exception of ONE refuse to come visit or even keep in touch. Yep, sure seems stupid, but human nature can be a "biatchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" sometimes, can't it?

Re: Saints Hatred?
Hurting people hurt people. Every football fan, besides Saints and Colts fans, are crying in their milk. There are different levels of pain: Vikes, Cards, Jets, Bolts... have really short fuses right about now. Remember 2006 for us; now that hurt. We rushed the ball only 9 times against a Bears team that let this same Colts team run for nearly 200 yards on them in the SB. I was mad at Payton and everybody else I could think of. But I/we had the integrity to not rain on someone elses parade. Haters are everywhere - we just happen to be at the receiving end of most of it. Comes with the territory - we can take it.

On that note, I will pass along this little tidbit of info that some of you younger guys may not have known. Archie Manning, when he was between the ages of around 18 and 22, was public enemy numero uno in Louisiana. He and his Rebels put blemishes on a couple of LSU promising seasons, if I'm remembering this right...and was not so welcome by all Saint fans in those first few years. I think there are some who still haven't totally forgotten. I will never forget the headline of the TP Sunday morning after Ole Miss burned the Tigers his Jr. year. It read, "Yes, Virginia, there is a Superman...and he wears #18 for the Ole Miss Rebels". Suffice it to say that the Tigers did get their revenge on Archie his Sr. year when they beat Archie and the Rebs soundly, somewhere around fitty. Archie had a cast on his whole left arm, but not making excuses. |
Re: Saints Hatred?
A lot of people want to see the Saints fail & stay in the gutter where they think we belong. They envy our success because their teams didn't make it and becaue they do not have the same connection we have with our Saints. When we won the NFC championship out of all the people I know around the country, only one person called me to congratulate us on our first Super Bowl. The Saints have earned this & we deserve to be proud.

I did hear from a West Monroe, LA cousin of mine that when she left her dad's Sunday night after the game "BIG" fireworks were goin' off, and you could hear the cheers! Now that is cool! For a long time when I lived there, I thought I was the only Saints fan in the town! ;)
I will say this...I got a nice text from a COWBOY'S fan right after the game, congratulating me! There are a few with class...just few and far between! ;) |

So I guess we all would love to see a Saints Appreciation Tour travel all over Lousiana, and neighboring Gulf Coast states. You know the Houston Astros do exactly that, and I believe they travel into Louisiana. They could sell all kinds of merchandise, and do various co-sponsorships, so the money would be there. You know, and I know that we'd all buy that stuff too--- we cant get enough! In the early days of the NFL, they did exactly that--- traveled across the country shaking hands, & making new fans. Im for it. |

The Vikings were LUCKY to be in that NFCCG with you guys. That said... your boys almost gave it away at the end. I don't share everyones hatred of Bret Favre... but he gave the game back to you guys at the end. But... IMO, he shouldn't have been in the game to begin with. Not with 5 turnovers. I was rooting for them... but like I have posted before... because I think the Vikes would have been easier for the Colts to beat. Your Saints are a shining example of what's possible while maintaining class, and respectability. Everyone should be proud. 9 more days!! Jabba |
