Who are the real idiots for not signing Brees?
 

When the Saints win it all... ESPN, PFW, etc. are going to be stuck on saying the Chargers were idiots for letting Brees go.

As good as Brees is, Rivers is no chump... as he was also a candidate for MVP. It's impossible to say what would have happened had Brees stayed in San Diego and maybe Rivers went to New Orleans.
Also, keep in mind that Brees has 8 years as a starter as Rivers has 4.

The true idiots of this all are the Miami Dolphins!!! They could have had Brees but chose Culpepper instead!!!

You keep trying to justify your team's decision to keep Rivers and dump Brees, but it appears to me that you haven't really gotten over it and prefer Brees but just don't want to admit it. Otherwise, you wouldn't be hanging around here so much, IMHO.

It's OK...really...because we can all agree that Rivers is kind of a flake with an empty spot on his finger.

Create a thread to politely and eloquently take a dump on Brees and highlight your own QB and expect us to sit back and relax and take it like a man?
Are you seriously dogging a Saints player -(Yes he's saints material now and his kid is a born and raised "NEW ORLEANIAN" ) - that took our beloved team to the special dance?!?
Dude don't get it twisted, i want to thank your organization from the bottom of our hearts to giving Bree's all of that experience out the way, and then putting him in a situation to have us get blessed with signing him but Don't come on here and dog NONE Of our players, we aint putting up with that crap.
This team is Family to us, when you talk bad them or even politely do it, somebody is going to pick it up and get angry about it, you don't throw family in the dirt and expect the others to just stand by, you had me rolling my sleeves up to punch back with this one..

Actually, you're dead wrong!!! Rivers has given us no reason to miss Brees BUT that's not what the media is going to say... AND THAT'S WHAT I WAS SAYING! Pay attention!!!

They didn't dump Brees, he was a free agent. Get your facts straight!

I'm proud of Brees but I'm very happy with Rivers. In 4 years, he's made great achievements and he''l get his shot!!!

I did as you said...and even after research when I look-up number of SB victories for P. Rivers it keeps coming back with 0 (zero).

Anyway...I give up. I am trying to help you out, but you refuse to let anyone. I'm trying to point-out to you how foolish you look coming to another team's site and trying to justify one of the worst blunders in the history of the NFL...but you just keep doing it. At least I can say I tried...if you refuse to listen, there's nothing more I can do.

Drew's contract expired in San Diego in 04. He then signed a 1 year extension through 05. After the 05 season, that makes him a free agent.
EASY TO UNDERSTAND!!!

Brees doesn't have a Super Bowl victory (yet) either. So what?

It is not even about who the better QB is. That will be answered when both hang up their pads.

I thought I was. If it makes you feel better, I will amend my statement and say emphatically, "I don't care." I'm sure there are others here that don't care to compare Brees and Rivers at this time when we are playing Peyton Manning and the Colts.

This thread should be in the NFL forum. I really don't care about what the media says about the chargers loss in Brees. It isn't about the chargers or rivers or what the media says about them. Bolt you were classy in your defeat and thanks for your support but you probably should post issues with the Chrgers and media in our NFL forum and not the Saints forum.

Even if the 2 were the same QB on the field, and I believe Brees is far better, there's no denying that Brees is 100 times the person Rivers is off of it. Seems pretty simple to me, for that reason alone, the Chargers screwed up.

The Chargers had their QB in Rivers. The Dolphins had no QB. Seems obvious to me that the Dolphins made a bad judgment call.

So, exile...are you saying that Bolts did OK by electing to go with Rivers...or even draft a QB...and letting Brees walk? If the Bolts don't make a mistake first then Miami never gets the opportunity to make one.

Oh yeah I agree that drafting Rivers was an idiotic move. I was just commenting that at the time they let him leave at least they had a QB they were confident in moving forward around.

Let me add. I don't call anyone an "idoit" for not signing Brees after his shoulder injury. There was just as good of a chance that he would never play well again as there was that he would go onto great things. It was really more of a very good gamble by the Saints.

Some of you guys need to be a bit more objective in regards to the Chargers situation.......

At the initial draft, I thought the Chargers pulled a STEAL getting LT and Brees (who I thought was the best QB in the draft at the time) for the pick they traded to Atlanta (Mike Vick)........ but Brees was HORRIBLE in the beginning of his career (was even benched again for Flutie at one point).

Once again picking at the top of the draft after another losing season they went QB (Rivers was a great prospect). Rivers held out with contract disputes, so the job was Brees's and that was the year it finally clicked. (but lost to the JETS in the playoffs :mrgreen:)

Next year he played well again, but torn his labrum in the last game of his expiring contract. Most likely fearing having another Chad Pennington (who the same year showed was not the same player after a similar injury) and with having a young QB making $$$ they let him walk, instead of commiting another contract to him. Not really a bad decision considering Rivers came right in and played well from the get-go, on Brees like level.

Hindsight being 20-20, who knew Drew would get BETTER (I think he's in a better system) but they made a business decision that hasn't hurt them.

Saints fans should be grateful of their choice, as they now have a franchise QB that enjoys being part of "WHO DAT NATION" (loved that quote last night)...... and that the Dolphins signed gimpy Culpepper who was never much without hucking it up to Randy Moss instead of Drew. (this is my favorite part) :doh: :mrgreen:
