I for one would love to see it but I think opposing teams are playing away from him. They\'re not stupid, they aren\'t going to give him a chance to do anything if they can help it. The fact that other teams are doing this makes him Pro Bowl material again to me.

Ok folks, even for me this may sound kinda dumb but I was willing to accept the risk vs. reward of trading lewis for a def stud in the offseason. I think there would have been some good deals available. Lewis is somewhat of a freak to the point if you had just an average returner(like elphage) he would be as much a threat as any other player.

In my view there have been 3 dominant return players the last 20 yrs. Mel Gray, Deion, and now Lewis. None of these players have or will play a role in their team going or winning the Superbowl. Is it worth giving up the best ST player for a full time starter? I tend to think YES.

As I said before, people on this board overrate the trade value of current Saints players. First rounder for Turley etc. - all those deals sounded pretty good to me too. But it\'s not what they were worth to other teams.
Same goes for a deal regarding Michael Lewis. Lewis isn\'t 23, so his potential is somewhat limited. He can\'t really play receiver, so he\'s even more limited. Do you really think someone would trade a, say, Charles Woodson for Michael Lewis?
He\'s here and he\'s helping us getting better field position with his sheer presence. His numbers won\'t show how he influenced the way other teams punted away from him or high enough so he wasn\'t able to get any room.

Kick it to him? Or squib it and give the Saints the ball at the 30-35?
Win-Win for the Saints.

Punt it to him? Or kick it high and short for a 30-35 yard net?
Win-Win for the Saints.

He\'s definately a weapon, even when he doesn\'t touch the ball.

He\'s also a weapon an kick coverage. He caught a very speedy JJ Moses Sunday after spotting him 3 yards and caught him within 10. SWEET PLAY!

ya but lets say we trade him for a potential starter but they get injured or dont pan out. Then you would be kicking yourself in the butt about trading Lewis for a dud. It\'s all a gamble but we know that Lewis is a stud so we should just keep him! We can always just pay cash and get a starter and have our cake too.

the beerman is definetly a good returner, not only are other teams squibbing and pooching to keep him from getting big yards, i think over th past offseason, a lot of teams have probably studied a lot of game film, so they could know what to do when he gets the ball, or maybe other teams just have better special teams this year.

Noclone. I agree most fans overrate saint players trade values but I would not mind seeing what some players would bring if they were on the market,
