Is anyone on here using anything besides windows? I have not been destroyed by any viruses but I have been hit with lots of aggravations. I am about ready to switch operating sytems because windows is too darn vunerable. Any advice out there? |

Keep up with the anti virus updates .
Mc Afee or Norton have a site to get the updates for protection . We have found if you Ebay , you are a target for spam and viruses . Seems to be a way to get addresses to spread a virus .... |

Dude just download Zone Alarm, it\'s free firewall software, if you have that installed no virus can attack your PC and it\'s easy to configure. Also, it will also let you know if you have a trojan because it will inform you of any program trying to connect to the internet.

Stay away from Zone Alarm, certain configurations it will sap your CPU of all it\'s processing power.
Answer me the following questions What version of Windows are you running? How do you connect to the internet? Do you have an existing Firewall (either software or hardware)? Do you have any anti-virus software loaded on your machine? |

Your first problem is you are running ME. Individuals at Microsoft have told me that it was a piece of ****, that never should have seen the light of day. I strongly suggest purchasing an XP Home upgrade.
If you have no firewall up with a broadband connection, you are asking for problems. Sooner or later someone will find your computer, and can do everything from sifting through your porn folder all the way to physically frying your hardware, regardless of what operating system you are running. A router is the best answer for this. You can get help in setting them up. Keep Windows and system works updated, weekly. Do all this, and you\'ll be fine. |
