32 NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: SEAN WEATHERSPOON, OLB, MISSOURI Scouting Report It seems as though New Orleans has been rumored to be looking for an upgrade at outside linebacker for years. In fact, giving the Saints a linebacker has officially replaced old standbys such as “Offensive Tackle to Houston” and “Wide Receiver to Tennessee” as the most clichéd choice in mock drafts. Sooner or later it has to happen though, right? The time might be now, especially since they just unexpectedly lost Scott Fujita as a free agent. There is a good chance that Missouri’s Sean Weatherspoon will be long gone by this point, possibly in the Top 20, but if he is still available the Saints would be wise to pounce on him. A fantastic all-around player, Weatherspoon really is the total package. In addition to his impressive measurables and top-notch intangibles Weatherspoon is constantly around the action and just seems to have a knack for making the big play. If Weatherspoon isn’t available keep a close eye on Penn State’s Sean Lee because he is exactly the type of linebacker that the franchise has seriously considered adding in the past. New Orleans could also be in the market for an upgrade at defensive tackle, in which case Penn State’s Jared Odrick, Cal’s Tyson Alualu or perhaps even East Carolina’s Linval Joseph could be possibilities. The Saints might also consider a free safety here but that would obviously depend on how they feel about their odds of re-signing free agent Darren Sharper. 64 NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: LAMARR HOUSTON, DT, TEXAS Scouting Report Anthony Hargrove is a backup so additional help is needed alongside Sedrick Ellis. |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

In fact at 32, I can see the Saints selecting BPA at just about every position not called QB. |

Chip Vaughn was projected as a SS; so we have Harper's replacement... And Malcolm Jenkins is the prime candidate to move to Free Safety... Should Taylor Mays fall to No. 32, do the Saints pick, I say he won't be there but if he is, you snatch the pick... I agree with BPA philosophy, though I'd like to see DL, LB, and/or FS addressed early... |
