A little unfinished business...
The season is over, and I feel compelled to eat my crow like a man, so, without further adieu, here goes.
Sean Payton-- I think I mistook desire to win for arrogance. For that, I apologize. Coach is an offensive genius, and I tip my hat to him. I don't know if the Saints could have gone all the way with anyone else. He didn't let me down on the gambling issue, but I love the way it turned-out. Drew Brees-- I never doubted his talent, didn't care for the rah-rah business...but it grew on me a little. He won a bunch of big games this year against teams with winning records. He came out a winner in the biggest game of his life. Drew...welcome to elite status. Jeremy Shockey-- I admit that Shockey was a part of this championship and deserves credit for that. He played hurt and I admire that in any player. I was against the trade, but he was a part of the team that fulfilled a lifelong dream, so I have to admit that the trade was most definitely worth it. So...there it is. Who Dat! |
Re: A little unfinished business...
I can say the same thing in regards to Shockey never liked him before, was against the trade but he just grew on me, more and more as the season progressed. When he made his limping touchdown I was sold completely, a play like that is worth what we gave for him.

Re: A little unfinished business...
Way to man-up, LB. Sometimes, its good to be wrong, and I'm glad you finally, after all these years, get to celebrate what I know you thought you would never live to see. I know deep down, you thought "we're cursed," and really could not possibly visualize us even going to the SB. I have many friends in this boat, and probably can include myself.
Payton, I knew was something special, and at least a change from all defense/no offense teams we're used to. I wondered how Brees would do on the big stage, but I like the rah-rah! And I too was against Shockey coming here, but I knew I was wrong about him as soon as I saw him working at Training Camp. WAAAAAAAAAHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! good job, LB. |
Re: A little unfinished business...
SP is not done yet, too!

Re: A little unfinished business...
Brees is an intense guy. I don't think we will see him in a broadcast booth after football.

Re: A little unfinished business...
I think we'll see him in Congress.

Re: A little unfinished business...
No worries LB. We all had our moments this season. I went nutz after the Tampa loss. I feel even more of an idiot now. I was SO WRONG. If I remember correctly, I said quote: "NO team that loses to the Bucs at home, has any chance of winning the superbowl." Boy was I wrong, in every sense of the word.
I just want everyone to know, that I have officially drank the Kool Aid. All of it. Every drop. So much, that I'm waiting for the Kool Aid guy to bust through my wall, screaming "OH YEAH!!!". I will never doubt this team again.... NEVER. |

Re: A little unfinished business...
I was completely wrong on Darren Sharper. I thought Loomis was going for another stop gap player that was good in his prime but once he became a Saint would do nothing for the team like Eric Allen or TeBucky Jones. I was all for wanting the safety that Dallas signed, the same one that might still be looking for the ball in Minny. I was just tired of seeing the team depend of second rate free agents and calling it a day like they had really done something to fix a problem.
Boy I was dead wrong, I don't know how many times since the Superbowl I've toasted to him. Good thing I'm not the GM |
Re: A little unfinished business...
What I was wrong is about how much attitude and what he means to our offense. He could be on the field and not make a catch but just being out there seemed to put a spark in everyone around him.
