My FA Wish list.

FA agent watch

Chester Taylor, RB, MN, 5-11, 213

Simple the best back up RB in the NFL. This guy can start for a lot of teams in the nfl he is best as a rotational back. A sta that is often over looked when talking about Chester is the fact he has caught over 40+ passes over the past 4 out of 5 years(except 2007). He is a solid 30 year old back up with plenty of talent left to step in an be the featured back if needed.

Tony Brown, DT, Tenn, 6-3, 290

Want to add an instant push up the middle? He is your guy. Probabnly the most under rated DT in the nfl.

Aaron Kampman, DE, Packers, 6-4, 260, 30

Forget Peppers here is the DE prize in a potentially uncapped 2010. Kyle Vanden Bosch. Yet the real prize maybe another 34 casuality for the saints to pick up on. Kampman would be worth the gamble for the Saints to bolster their pass rush, especially when you take into account his high character and tremendous work ethic. Kampman is as hard of a worker as there is on the field and a quality individual off of it.

I will take either of these two from the Ravens, one will not be signed. depth addition.

Dwan Edwards, DE/DT, Ravens., 6-3, 290, 29

Edwards replaced Trevor Pryce as a starter midway through last season and provided a solid starter. A smart, high-motor player. Has fine hand technique and uses his upper body strength well. Can disengage from blocks and make plays. Not an elite athlete and isn't explosive. Doesn't excel in pursuit of quarterbacks. Doesn't get great leverage out of his stance and lacks the footwork of a top pass rusher. Solid rotational D-lineman. Solid against the run.

or

Justin Bannan, DT, Ravens, 6-3, 310, 30

High-effort type. Plays with great leverage. Uses his arms well. Loves the game and will mix it up. Not hapless as a pass rusher, but lacks moves and explosiveness. Useful backup.

2010 Roster:
RB: PT, Taylor, Bush, Hamilton
DT: Ellis, Brown, Clancy, Ayodele
DT/DE: Edwards, Hargrove
DE: Smith, Kampman, McCray
Now bring on the draft.

Re: My FA Wish list.

not big on the baltimore players

tony brown is an interesting choice but he wouldnt be able to help us at the NT position which is really our biggest issue.......i dont think we would move ellis to NT simply because he is better suited at the other DT position.......not to mention he benefits greatly from playing next to vanden bosch......hes good but i dont see him being the most underrated DT in the league like you said

aaron kampman is one of those players that i would love to get but is probably out of our reach

he struggled in the 3-4 and i think he is really looking for a 4-3 defense so he can move back to his natural position. im sure he would like to be a saint

again tho, this all has to be hypothetical because we cant sign FAs

Re: My FA Wish list.

Not yet. I see the market opening up. Yeah I know the NT debate but I say give Clancy the chance to come back. I really like him. I need to see what the saints do with there FAs to get an idea of what they are going to do.

Aaron Kampman could be the steal of FA. Injury age and little interest in him as a 34 OLB. though he was still 3rd on the team in tackles even with the injuy. He might come cheaper than you or I may think.

As for the steelers pair. I am thinking rotational depth only.

Re: My FA Wish list.

I'd love to see us go after Kampman, good thought hagan.

I don't like the idea of going after Chester Taylor at all though. In my mind, he doesn't really bring anything to the team that we don't already have. Besides, I can see him getting a bigger contract considering how effective he's been recently. Plus, I've seen him make some really bad mistakes in games, like game-costing mistakes.

I guess my underlying problem with getting Taylor is that I still think we need to focus on defense. DT, OLB, DE.

Re: My FA Wish list.

The problem with FAs is that you have to lose one of equal value to sign one. Considering there are 31 other teams, your chances of success seem remote.

The Saints will be looking to trade marketable players and build through the draft.

Re: My FA Wish list.

I mentioned Kampman a few weeks ago bc I think we actually have a decent chance to get him.

Add Dorsey to that list.

Re: My FA Wish list.

I dont know about these guys. Taylor is 30 and I would sign Bell back before him.Cost less and a year in the system.
Kampman would be nice but McCray will fill in nicely for Grant. Not to mention he would cost more then we should spend.

I would have intrest in Tony Brown. We would have a very nice rotation if we added him.

I am more concerned with QB. Brunell should retire and Daniels is far from ready. We need a #2 thats a vet.

I just hate to see a big year in FA. We won the Superbowl for goodness sake. Out talent is young and there. Build backups now.

Re: My FA Wish list.

Taylor has lost his concentration in big games (fumble, missed block) which is why he's a backup...

I guess you're thinking is Bush is gone; so, yeah, Chester would be a good guy in the RB Mix...
