but he is a physical specimen and did go to USC, and is a first round prospect, so what exactly is your point?

and 88 tackles from the safety position makes him stand out

Re: Taylor Mays...USC

he caught every ball thrown at him except 1 at the combine today

hes fast....he hits hard.....and hes tall

the reason people dont think hes good is because he has only 3 INTs? lmao

why dont we jus sign jevon kearse and put him at safety. hes pretty much the same person as mays but just older. and neither have ball hawking skills

lol pretty much

i know most people dont like mays....i like his athleticism. plus hes only 22 and he is playing with a lot of raw skills

he can be coached up IMO but i know very little about DBs so im not exactly sure how raw he is

Re: Taylor Mays...USC

the point is moot since he will be gone 20 picks before we select, but I'll ask anyway
you guys are saying you would NOT want Mays in our defensive backfield?

Re: Taylor Mays...USC

That 40 time sounds about right. I almost fell off my chair when they posted that 4.24 number. That's Deoin Sanders fast, and he should be put on the corner. I am actually torn on Mays. His Senior season really was not up to what I thought it would be and the first player that comes to mind is Dallas' old safety Roy Williams. I just don't think he can cover the deep ball, so he'd have to go to a team like the Saints where we have two elite corners that can protect him and let him roam the middle of the field ala Roman Harper. Let's just say he's no Eric Berry, but still a first round pick as he is an absolute thumper against the run.

He sucks against the pass! We have a run thumper in Harper. We need a pass coverage safety. Sharper is a ball hawk. You see what he did for us this year. You will have to beat the Saints passing so it only makes sense to draft a great pass catcher. I like Chad Jones and Berry.
