I will use your logic.
So I say Bobby Hebert was an average QB and the offense was ok, but he played with a great defensive line?Huh?
Morten Anderson was not one of the leagues best kickers, but just had a great holder, great snaps.

AM, BH, JF, JD, Saints fans of LA lovelove the Louisiana boy or nearby state(MS) in the QB position if they can get him.
We have had this and have not gone far but it was a nice feeling of comfort.
After Brees, who will be N.O. QB? Who will be his second string QB now?
It could a St.Bernard dog to me if he could play,LOL!
It could be one from a small college far away. You could have a Black guy. Maybe a Hispanic American like Marc Sanchez.
Doesn't mater to means long as he can play.
Saints fans have been there from season 1-15 to seasons 8-8 and we really thought that was wonderful, and seasons 9-7,well, that was a winning season.
SB was a dream come true.
Next year, it may or may not happen.
The NFL, you could have in Playoffs as contenders Dallas, NY Jets, Steelers,Texans, who knows.
I just want this current team, who is left, and coaches atafff to stay up there.
I just want the Saints from here on, after this current team and current coaching staff leaves/retires, just to stay at 8-8 at least. I never want to see the Saints go back to the real sad years.
If they would, I would still be a Saints fan.

What'cha talkin bout Willis? This doesn't even make sense. Try drinking a little less next time before you post.

I don't care who we go out and sign, there's not a man on the planet (besides Peyton Manning) who could make Drew Brees look over his shoulder. I personally don't think it's a bad thing to bring Delhomme back in as a backup if he understands his role. But Drew Brees is a top 2 QB in the NFL, he's not going to get scared of Delhorrible

Browns sign Delhomme

Jake Delhomme has agreed to a two-year deal with the Cleveland Browns, according to a league source.
Delhomme visited with the Browns on Thursday, but left without a deal. He was scheduled to visit the New Orleans Saints on Friday, but his trip was delayed because his flight was canceled, according to league sources.
Delhomme was released by the Carolina Panthers earlier this month after seven seasons with the team.

Cleveland Browns, Jake Delhomme agree to two-year contract - ESPN

Best of luck to him ... not sure if this is the best option for him.

Thanks Smash for article.

JD,2 yr.deal w/Cleveland at 7 million. Seven million.

Article says his home town team is N.O. Saints.
That should be that JD's home state team is Saints.

his next best option was backing up drew

he'll go to the browns and be a starter for 2 years and then find a new home

you guys forget that just 4 short seasons ago we were also the laughing stock of the NFL

nobody wanted to come here and everybody that did come here got mocked and laughed at by the rest of the fans

the browns have a solid defense.....they have a lot of young talent......they are missing a few key pieces

1 of which is leadership......fujita and delhomme will solve that problem

I was trying to figure it out and it seemed the 2nd proved to be a real starter from your list there.

Saintsfan I agree.
You are only as good as your last year.
This is the BUSINESS of NFL and not a popularity contest.

Saint LB, sorry I offended you by saying Saint Archie Manning was what he was which was an average QB.
I like and respect Archie and Olivia Manning and their three sons.
I think they are of character in hopw they live their lives with some privacy and dignity . I did think it was awful when Eli pouted like a whiny baby and refused anything SD out in front inpublic in the draft. That was not classy. He should have smilied, put on the SD stuff while his dad, agents, lawyers worked behing the scenes to get him out of that.
AM was average.

SoI agree withb Joanie in that the Saints need a 2nd QB who wants to be here.

JD is here. Checking . Leaving no team unchecked as he looks for any other team. I predict the Saints are not buying him and that is fine.
Do you how many millions it would cost for 35 yr. old JD to be here?
He is not looking for a 6 figure pay, LOL!

JD, Good God No!! I htink we are posting over nothing because JD is not coming here. He was a 10 million or so pay and a starting position.
Burnell is too old.
JD will be too old and Drew is not going to be Saints QB forever. Two-three more years, who will the Saints have after Brees? Nobody.

Saints need a young , diamond -in-rough QB who they can mold and buy at a low cost. Saints scouts ,I predict , are looking for just that.
Find a Brees part 2.

sure i like what your saying but that daimond in the rough won't help get us to the super bowl if drew goes down and were still in the mix, we still need a seasoned vet that can come in and keep us going till drew gets heathy. and uncle brunell's not the one.

believe it or not......brunell has better numbers than delhomme in his career and he has never had a WR like steve smith

it seems like you guys forget that

brunell has been selected to the pro bowl 3 times.........delhomme only once

brunell has been a pro bowl MVP and has a super bowl ring with us

delhomme has none of that and hasnt been in the system for years

now delhomme is in cleveland and we still have our former 3 time pro bowler as a backup

And most of North Carolina feels his home town team is NO Saints! :D Just glad he isn't with the Saints. There is a real dislike for the fella up here in NC and it tends to rub off on all of us who aren't Panthers fans! In two years, where will he be? Wishing he had been #2 behind Drew Brees!:bng:

Just to go full circle...I bet Sean Payton could make Quinn or Andersen good QBs with this team. It would be interesting if we signed either to be a backup behind Drew.

Fujita is there for one great point and one point only and that is to make mega millions he could not get and would not get paid by the Saints. He will do his very best. Work . He is not going there to sit around .
I think smart move.He got the SB thing that many never get let alone get a second time at.

I agree with Crusader about JD.

niteadept, what do you mean he is not liked in NC? That is pretty sad.
They won a SB with JD. Yeah, he is on the downside of his career now. Now,the team is rebuilding.

The Saints won a SB at last. This big win thing and all of the fan excitement won't be always, but I NEVER want to see fans knocking this coaching staff, Breesand team. I mean the fair weather fan thing.
I think Saints fans will never do that. Fans stuck around through some really bad, bbbbaaaaddd times.

The Colts fair weather fans ,the 11 of them , showed up to greet the team after the SB at the airport. Yeah, I get that the Colts org. did not make a deal of letting fans know and that it is freezing below and snowing.
Still, their local media knew there when the team was arriving. The city could not have set something up inside the airport?
It just seems to me the Colts lost the SB to the underdog NO Saints and fans and media there are fair weather ones.
Also, the Colts were out played and out coached by the Saints.
Oopps, I am getting back to the SB. I just can't help myself sometimes.:bng:

lmao.....anybody that plays in the NFL has accomplished more than most people here.....but without most people here, the NFL doesnt exist in the first place so yes jake, you are very welcome to have fans support the league and the sport so you can have one of the highest paying jobs in the world and retire at 40

you are here for the exact same reason, to criticize, to critique, to talk about who you like and who you dont and reasons why.....you standing up for jake delhomme has no impact on how anybody will view him or respond to the same topics later on

you know why this post upsets me.....not because you supposedly called me out or insulted me......because of hypocritical stuff that you post like this when you turn around on other threads and post stuff like this

I don't hate Jake, I just don't want him playing for us. I hope he does well in Cleveland. I would add that Stephen Davis and their D had a lot to do with why they went to the SB.

Winners want the ball, when the game's on the line. You can also say, that a good leader, has to become a good follower as well. I don't hate Jake, but he is a freaking crybaby. Accomplishments? Yes, he went to a Superbowl, but close only counts in horseshoes, and hand grenades. Dan Marino went to a superbowl, so did Boomer Esiason. Jake isn't close to the talent, of either one of those guys. And don't get me started on the qbs that have BEEN to the superbowl, that no one hear would probably even know if I did. I wish Jake all the luck in the world. And yes, I am glad he's not in New Orleans. Qbs, are kind of like ex's. There is a reason why they are "ex's".

I have so many thoughts on this topic...

Jake played for NO...he was forced out of town...he went to a SB while NO went to the toilet bowl...he's now on his last leg, sorta like Brunell...and people hate him.

I keep harping on Hebert, but why don't people feel animosity toward him? What he did was hundreds times worse, IMO.

For the record, I could take him or leave him...but I'm kinda glad he will get another shot in Cleveland. He would never get that shot here unless Brees went down, and we don't even want to think about that.

Jake can be a jerk at times, also...so this whole thing played out pretty good as far as I'm concerned.

He was not forced out of town. He signed with Carolina as a backup, of his own free will, which was his role in N.O. at the time. He failed to win the starting job in Carolina just as he failed to win it in N.O.

Bobby never proclaimed his undying love for Atlanta like Jake has done recently for Carolina. Mike thinks he's getting a leader in Cleveland. I think he's getting an average, at best, QB on the downside of his career. Hell, they could have signed Brunell for the same performance and about half the money. Oh well...it's their money, not mine.

I wish Jake the best too, but I'm extatic that he's not going to be back in N.O. Giddy. Joyous. Relieved. Thankful.

To me, he was forced out of town. When you are not allowed to start when the starter obviously is injured, then you know right there that you probably aren't going to get a chance unless the starter's arm gets ripped off.

As it was, he saw a better chance to win a starting job in Carolina...and ultimately he was right.

Haslett and crew mortgaged the farm on AB and we were force-fed the smiling idiot even when he couldn't get the job done physically. If I would have been in JD's situation, I'm sure I would have done the same thing...and I'm sure he's glad he went there, too.

Well, we know which side of the debate you were on. I think it's funny that every discussion about Delhomme comes back to Brooks when Delhomme was undrafted, cut several times, and failed to crack the starting lineup for at least three coaches, yet it all gets washed down to Jake being 'robbed' by Haz and Brooks.

If you tell yourself something long enough you eventually begin to think it's true. I think this is what has happened to a lot of Jake Delhomme fans.

Give me a break. Where is AB today? Where is JD?

Nobody is saying JD is the greatest thing since sliced bread...nor am I saying that I'm disappointed. As I said earlier, I'm glad it worked out the way it did.

On the other hand, if you can't recognize that JD was at least as capable as AB as a starter, then it is my opinion that you are the one who was biased in the whole thing.

AB had two things going against him. He didn't know when to take a sack or throw it away...consequently providing yards and yards of AFV material...
and even more agitating were the smiles that always followed.

Yes...yes they do. Maybe this entered into Jake's thinking. It's like, "Hey, I got nothing to lose."

i just dont see it

right when they get some good players in, they get rid of some quality players

look at the DT they traded to the lions....they just traded one of their best LBs to the raiders....and even tho they brought in fujita, they lost brodney poole and let go of hank fraley

its nice to see a giant overhaul like this, but is it for the better of the team? i dont know yet......they are still in a pretty deep hole

the good thing is that mike holmgren knows how to run a team and eric mangini knows how to draft

Jake didn't have 1/10th the Upside Brooks had when all that drama started. Anything you or anyone else knew or knows about Jake came from AFTER he bolted New Orleans for a backup job in Carolina.

Just curious to know what you think it is that Jake did when the pressure was on. Did he 'know how to take a sack'? His numbers suggested he preferred to thow air balls up for grabs and get them intercepted. I've watched him do it time after time. So have you.

But must we talk about Brooks & Haz to discuss Jake? I don't think so, but it seems I'm in the minority. At any rate, we can discuss Jake any time. It's an easy argument to win if you're on my side of the fence and you believe what the statistics show you.

Just remember, it wasn't that long ago, when New Orleans was considered an NFL graveyard as well. It only takes one championship to change that mentallity. We of all people should know that.
