Book deals in the works for New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton, quarterback Drew Brees

New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton and quarterback Drew Brees both have book deals in the works after their remarkable Super Bowl season.

Payton's book, titled "Home Team," is scheduled to be released in the first week of July and will center on the unique relationship between the Saints and the city. The details of Brees' book have not been announced, but he confirmed that he plans to become a first-time author through a tweet Thursday night.
"I never thought this would happen, but I am writing a book. A great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many," Brees said on his Twitter account.

Payton's book will be written in collaboration with Ellis Henican, a columnist for Newsday, host of a nationally syndicated talk show and analyst for Fox News. And it will be published by the NAL/Penguin Publishing Company.
"At first I was somewhat skeptical. I didn't want it to be a typical book on motivation and winning on and off the field," Payton said. "But the story of this city and its football team is really something uniquely different, beginning in '06 when we got started to the victory parade Tuesday in New Orleans (after the Super Bowl).

"I'm biased because I'm doing the book, but I'm excited because it's a different direction. The uniqueness here, maybe it's only similar to Green Bay. That's the only comparison I could draw. And it starts with my interview dinner in San Antonio (with General Manager Mickey Loomis), coming here in '06 and bringing in Brees and (Scott) Fujita and (Reggie) Bush and that draft class.

He just rubs me the wrong way, sometimes. To me, this statement sounds like it is coming from someone who is really full of himself.

I'm actually looking forward to reading these books. And, no, not because of my crush on Drew either. I like reading books by coaches and athletes about their journeys.

I say, congrats to Drew and Coach Payton on your book deals.

I got a book deal too .... writing about this kick arse year and football forum ... coming out on Kindle ... complete with vids from the Super Bowl including the Pep-Rally Dude!
