TCU's Pro Day
I have seen mock drafts with both of these guys taken by the Saints, so I thought I'd post their pro day notes:
TCU DE/OLB Jerry Hughes -- A conversion end who will transition to 3-4 outside linebacker at the next level, Hughes continues to rise and is now a mid-second rounder. At 6-2¼ and 254 pounds Hughes is more athletic than we originally thought, showing fluid hips and changing direction well. Hughes was a productive pass rusher in college and could be a difference-maker in that capacity in the NFL. He shows good bend and body control off the edge, can change up his pass rush moves and has the explosiveness to close quickly when he gets a lane to the passer. OLB Daryl Washington -- Washington played inside in collee but is a bit undersized (6-1¾, 226) and will likely play on the weak side in a 4-3 scheme in the NFL. He is smart and instinctive on film and from that position Washington would be covered up and allowed to run to the ball. That could mean success for a player who ran 4.55 and completed the three-cone drill in 7.04 seconds. He can hold his own in coverage and rarely takes false steps, and while Washington could be more physical taking on blocks and controlling the hole at the point of attack we still give him a late-second round grade. |
