Drew Brees hopes autobiography will 'touch people's lives'

By Mike Triplett, The Times-Picayune

The revival of Drew Brees, the New Orleans Saints and the city of New Orleans will be chronicled in the Super Bowl MVP's upcoming autobiography, "Coming Back Stronger: Unleashing the Hidden Power of Adversity, " which is scheduled to be released July 6.

The details of Brees' upcoming memoir were released Wednesday. Brees will collaborate with author Chris Fabry, who previously worked on Ohio State Coach Jim Tressel's book, "The Winners Manual." Brees' book is being published by Tyndale House Publishers.

According to a press release, the book will "chronicle the incredible comeback story not only of one of the NFL's top quarterbacks, but also the rebirth of a city and a team that many had all but written off."
The press release later says, "It takes a special person to turn adversity into success and despair into hope - yet that is exactly what Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees has done - and with the weight of an entire city on his shoulders."

Brees was not available for comment. He is vacationing in Hawaii with his family after the NFL Players Association meetings, which were held there.
He earlier spoke about the book on his Twitter account, tweeting, "My book will contain a little background on me, things in my life that have shaped me, my faith, and my journey with New Orleans.
" I am so excited about this book. My goal is to touch people's lives by my personal stories and reflection and the love I have for my city.
"There will be many things in this book you would otherwise never know about me or my journey, and what has influenced me along the way.
"I hope and believe that the book will also create a mindset for people as they face adversity, showing them a path to come back stronger."
Brees also tweeted that the book will be "a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many." A portion of the proceeds from book sales will go to The Brees Dream Foundation.
Brees will be competing against his coach, Sean Payton, on the bookshelves. Payton's book, titled "Home Team, " is also scheduled to be released in the first week of July.

Or maybe, as they do on the field, they'll serve as perfect complements for one another.
