The NFL meetings are currently going on in Orlando, Florida right now and there is a lot of activity happening. There are discussions about changes in the overtime format and what the opening week schedule will be for the 2010 season. A lot more is on the docket as well with the safety of players and officials so injuries can be cut down.

Glad there's a lot of action going on there because there is virtually nothing happening here in New Orleans.

Free agency is going on three weeks now and the Saints have restrictions but still are't doing much of anything. A few visits have happened here and there, but there are no signings. Mike Bell and Anthony Hargrove have gone out and visited other teams, but it doesn't look like the Saints were all that concerned. Scott Fujita up and bolted for Cleveland. Can't say I blame him either with the money he was offered.

How come the Saints though aren't really doing much of anything?

New Orleans is down to virtually their final twelve hours to match the offer made to Bell by the Philadelphia Eagles, but I don't expect them to do so. The extra $600,000 and a "no-trade clause" seem to be too steep a price in order to keep a fourth running back on the roster.

Anthony Hargrove visited with the Detroit Lions the other day and there are big plans for him in the Motor City, but no offer has been made yet. It appears as if the Lions would love to use Hargrove as a defensive tackle inside on some downs and then move him outside as an end on other downs. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure the Saints would try to match an offer made to him if the Lions choose to do so. Or better yet, the Lions may offer up some trade bait and the Sants may bite. Kind of confusing considering Hargrove was a big part of the defense this season both physically and emotionally.

St. Louis Rams' defensive end James Hall had visited with the Saints a week or two ago, but no offer was ever made to him. He ended up re-signing to stay put which officially takes him off of the "Charles Grant Replacement" list. Leonard Little visited too and left without a contract offer, but that was over a week ago so he seems a long shot too.

Justin Fargas came and went back home.

After visiting Cleveland, Jake Delhomme didn't even make it into town for his visit.

Jamal Williams decided to set up shop in Denver therefore canceling his trip to New Orleans.

Now news has gotten overly quiet and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of activity going on at all. Confusion set in a little bit when the Saints started bringing in a bunch of twelve and fourteen year veterans for a defense that Greg Williams likes to keep on the younger side. But it doesn't really matter because those visits now appear to be pointless.

Darren Sharper is still sitting there after arthroscopic knee surgery and looking forward to visits with other teams once he is able to travel. Makes you wonder if the Saints have even picked up the phone and checked on the guy, but there appears to be a plan in place. Don't under pay Sharper but also don't break the bank on him. If he happens to hit the bricks then rumors have Malcolm Jenkins moving over to safety. Not a bad idea, but those are some big shoes to fill for a second-year player.

I'm going to put my faith in Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton in the hopes that they know exactly what they are doing because it appears to have all worked before. Saying there is no concern mounting though is something I can't say simply since the lack of activity boggles my mind. Maybe it is all part of some big master plan as the draft gets closer. Perhaps when the meetings in Orlando are over, business will pick up.

I don't know, but I'd love to see something...anything happen. Or maybe I can just sit back and shut my mouth since it is only March and my favorite team did just win a Super Bowl less than two months ago.
