Bush trade talks!

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I would take that deal in a heart beat and draft a player like Bush with the 14th pick. We get another good DE, still get to draft Kindle or Weatherspoon at #32 and Anthony Dixon at #64. Damn I'm ...

i'm just now seeing this thread. I saw the post date and got the joke but am disappointed. I'd love a first plus a DE for Bush.

Ha ha ha.........It's not funny. I like what Reggie does for us, maybe not as much for 8 mill. Although, it would be an interesting offer.

Re: Bush trade talks!

follow me here.....

I personally like our offense better without Bush. All I read is that Bush creates mismatches.... well, to me this is nothing shy of desperate optimism from committed or jaded fans.

Fact, Bush creates no more mismatches than the more effective Pierre Thomas. If this is the case. I only think that fans sense an overemphasis on him when he's in. Every position player has his assignments and/or zones no matter what. Whether it's PT, Bush, Bell, whatever, whoever is spying him, is spying him.... I actually think that when D's see Bush, there may be a little bit of relief. Now no commentators or players in interviews will say this, but Bush has proven to be quite a small task to take down. You will hardly ever, EVER see Bush break a tackle much less slip past a defender. Bush will take what he can get before d's close in on him. I'm sorry, but this is not progressive football these days. In my opinion, I see Bush as the weakest back in the NFL (can you think of anyone else that goes down easier?)

At first, drafting Bush, he was "going to make every guy on the field miss" right, remember? Come' on, I believed the hype and the sky was the limit right. He was going to be our "A.P. or the current Chris Johnson". Game after game, week after week, we only witnessed more and more compiling limitations of this guy.

Bush is vastly, I mean VASTLY overhyped and tragically overpaid.

I can't help thinking that we staggered for years while experimenting with Bush. Coach Payton, I'll give him his credit, but he has stubbornly pi$$ed away drives and games while trying to force reggie in during a variety of situations. It's not Payton's fault, and for the money Bush is making, I'd do all to get my use out of him.... not to mention, just diligently trying to find what he does good.

Up until about the last four games, Bush has played with no heart, played scarred and played stupid in most cases. Also, I've never seen a player , EVER, be so quick to dart out of bounds. I've seen him turn it on a little more in those last four, but I've gotta wonder, knowing he's coming up on his payout year, or the fact that his lack of production would be a threat for him to return, I wonder if he hasn't just expelled himself only NOW, to either solidify his final year here, or to put on a show for resume purposes to go off to another team overhyped and overpaid, only to regress back to playing like a diva. So saying that, do I 1. get excited that he's shown some heart and commitment to the game the last few games and hope big for the future.... or 2. wonder why T.F. he's been playing so timid and soft the past few years? That's just not commendable in my mind. I can't just say, "Yeah, Reggie, You finally turned it on" without thinking "#2." If this is the case as well, as I've always viewed, it only validates the factor that he's a selfish player.

I think the term "mismatch" and "decoy" are only a cop-out in terms of an NFL running backs credibility. All I can say, is thank God for the real deal Pierre Thomas. It's like this.... without Bush, this team still makes a Super Bowl run, Without Pierre, it's out of reach. I'm all about real difference makers, not dwindling hope.

[edit] BTW, before you try to blow smoke up my ___ about how "yeah, but Bush was an integral part of our Super Bowl season.... why mess with a good thing, etc." take a look at Bush's involvement in this season and particularly his involvement in our wins in a dominant fashion.

There is half a dozen games where bush only got 1, 2-4 touches, and we blew opponents away. For those who preach that we need him to "decoy" the D's or whatever, what do you feel about our most dominant and statement wins in '09 in which Bush either didn't even play or was a 1,2,3 touch hindrance performance....
Win - Giants: 6 carries 17 yds., 2.8 avg. (that's a whole lot of going no where runs.)
Win - wk. 11 TB and wk. 12 NE, Epic wins, Epic offensive performances, Bush doesn't even play.... etc, etc.....

Re: Bush trade talks!

^^^ you do realize that if a highlight reel was made of even Aaron Brooks, would look equally if not more impressive right. My point is.... just because a player accumulates enough good plays for a highlight reel, doesn't mean that the team is better off with or without him.

How do you think a "Goof, Oops and Come'on Man Reel" of Reggie Bush would look? Can Youtube host a video that long?

I like how you didn't address any of the opinions with response, but plopped a hand pick, select choice of plays from Reggies career.
