and BTW, I don't need to go and watch a highlight reel to jade my opinion. You've probably watched that thing to the point of brainwashing yourself. |

10 minute highlight reel with the same several plays looped over and over and over. Some are preseason games. Bush has yet to put back to back games of any quality together. To be fair, his injuries have caused a meaningful reduction in speed, cutting ability and desire to get hit. He is a weapon, but only within the system. He's not a featured back, he's not a true receiver, he's not durable and he's not punishing. He is a very expensive cog for the Saints' wheel.

I also think Reggie is only accepted because of the better play of people around him. How many games have we seen where Reggie is put into different situations only to continue to not get anything going and find himself standing on the sidelines the rest of the day. Meanwhile Bell and Pierre were out there getting it done. If Pierre and Bell weren't available and and we relied on Reggie, I think they'd shut him down in no time.... and can't same the same if the situation was reversed. Look at the last, overtime drive of the NFC championship game. To me I think it sums up Reggie's value. We get the kick... Pierre returns. If Reggie's "ultimate weapon" theories were true, I think you throw him in there for this situation regardless... anyways, so Pierre makes an epic return (as he usually does) and almost all but puts it in field goal range already. moving on..... it goes like: Henderson, clutch catch, next, Pierre converts huge 1st down [closing in on FG range].... they put in Bush for a play and... BAMM - loses 5 yards. knocking them out of FG range. Fortunately, we have clutch players to pick up his slack.... Meachem makes a nice reception for good FG range..... so, what I'm saying is.... it's our clutch players that kept us rolling. From my view point, YES, Reggie is a change of pace, and he has to be accounted for, but it seems just as often as not, he's a change of pace FOR THE WORST! BTW Reggie had 7 rush attempts for 8 yards that game.... that's 7 wasted plays. This is Reggie to me. Our offense can shred without him... and you take him out of the picture and you lose all the huge loses of him getting shoestring tackled while dancing around the backfield or running laterally towards to sidelines. Because he lowered his shoulders for the last few games doesn't convince me.... The only I am convinced about is that he was exerting himself while closing in on his biggest payday season to come. Or even put on a show for potential trade interests. I can see that he can be a consistent threat, but I've seen 4 years of him playing like a scarred diva that doesn't convince me that he will continue play with heart. It's that simple. |

Re: Bush trade talks!
You can look at the Bush thing a hundred ways. Take the St.Louis game, if he doesn't play we don't win. THen the undefeated saints lose to the winless rams....how does that change a season. BTW, check Pierre's paltry stats from that game.
